Help to Buy is not causing a housing bubble

I too would prefer lower prices but if the higher prices are being paid then people are no being priced out.
Those that cannot afford to buy are being priced out and in London and the SE that is a high percentage. Not to mention the large amount of property being sold to overseas investors.
But if supply was increase to fulfil the demand, houses prices would come down surely? The solution of course is to build more houses and/or for people to live in smaller properties.
And there you have your bubble
Personally, I doubt there is any desire to increase supply by those with vested interest so increases in building will be tiny and nowhere near enough to make much difference.0 -

The thread started out with Halifax data dismissing there is a bubble.
The IFS says there is no bubble.
BoE's David Miles said today there is no bubble.
E&Y says there is no bubble.
Why do people insist there is a bubble?Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -
The same people that are claiming there is a bubble are the same people that claimed house prices weren't rising not long ago...mayonnaise wrote: »The thread started out with Halifax data dismissing there is a bubble.

Just because your empty argument has crashed and burned and been debunked there's no need to throw your toys out of your cot....
Oh yeah you gave me a thorough debunking alright :rotfl:
Next time you respond to a post regarding the selfishness and greed of certain vested interests, you might want to avoid demonstrating those exact qualities, or indeed adding bullying into the mix. You may not have liked the term 'Pathetic', clearly though it was entirely accurate, truth hurts I guess.

I haven't seen this posted anywhere else, didn't think it was worth a whole new thread, and this was the most recent thread with 'bubble' in the title

There was a piece on tonights Channel 4 news about the housing market in East London (didn't catch where - maybe Shoreditch or poss Whitechapel?) about an estate agent which had a window display of places which could only be bought by sealed bids, no viewings. They suggested that this kind of tactic was symptomatic of bubble mentality...
Just tried to find a link on the Ch4 catch up thing, but tonight's isn't up yet.0 -
It's good advice to stick to the thread topic, HTB and it causing a bubble.EchoLocation wrote: »Oh yeah you gave me a thorough debunking alright :rotfl:

If you have nothing else to back up your arguments by all means carry on trying to be insulting.0 -

It is clear we have a bubble in South East and London, everyone apart from the very rich priced out.:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.
