**Not sure where to post this so feel free to move it .. **

I thought I was really saving money but didn't realise that I'd be wasting SO much time trying to buy a tablet. Although all the people I've spoken to have been very pleasant, I'm so frustrated that I've now posted this on the Tesco Facebook page. Will it have any effect?

At the beginning of February I finally decided to buy a Hudl and was delighted to find that I could "boost" my vouchers to twice their face value .. especially when I discovered that I had £55 in vouchers so would have £110 against the £119 price of the Hudl. It should have been simple, but read on . .

1/2 - tried to boost vouchers through the Clubcard site. Boosted vouchers were emailed to me but they were for instore use only. Rang and was told that the value would be credited back to my a/c.

2/2 - rang: the refunded vouchers won't reach my a/c till May; Tesco will email replacement instore vouchers.

3/2 - rang: no email vouchers have been received .. helpful assistant spoke to her manager who will send me a giftcard for £110 to use online .. might take 7 days.

12/2 - no giftcard but I received a Clubcard statement showing £45.50 .. confused as I'd "boosted" £55; rang: details will be passed to a manager.

13/2 - rang: details had been passed to the wrong person; Tesco will email the right manager who will ring me tonight.

14/2 - rang 9.30am as no-one had rung me: Tesco will email the manager to ring me! -rang 12.30pm: the manager doesn't start work till 2.30 today; I explained I'd be out until 7pm but they could ring my mobile after 5pm tonight;
- despite being told that I'd be out, another manager rang my landline at 6.20pm and then rang the mobile at 6.30pm .. only to tell me that the initial request for a giftcard had been sent to someone "who has left the company" .. a manager will deal with it but they had no idea of the timescale!

Okay, I admit that the first mistake was mine as I hadn't realised that the boosted vouchers which would be emailed to me could only be used instore .. but I don't understand why it has taken two weeks to sort this out. Surely someone could just send me a code to use online and I'd now be happily playing with my new Hudl.

Come on, Tesco, please sort this out quickly!
:-(

This would probably be better on the praise vent and warnings board.

OP, I recall at Christmas Tesco were only allowing so many double club card points to be used on the HUDL purchase. I think it took it to a value of about £70 that you had to pay for in cash (or credit card!) but couldn't use doubled up points...?

    Update:
Tesco Customer Services replied to my FB post but,
with the best will in the world, it seems that can't help me as they are "unable to access any logging systems that Tesco Boost uses" and are "also unable to email them because they use different systems".
    So much for modern technology.
    I'll try again on Monday.

If anyone knows how to move this thread to that board, please do .. I didn't know it existed.

I'd be fascinated to know which the two different systems are which mean that two departments of one company cannot email each other. I've never sent an email to any person or company which bounced back because they were using an incompatible system.
  • I had the same problems trying to buy my Hudl with Tesco vouchers - took me a week of constant phoning and I was getting no where - then found this email on the net....

    ceo.customerservice@tesco.co.uk

Sent an email to them explaining exactly what happened and lo and behold - a day later I got a lovely phone call saying they had sorted it all out and my Hudl was on its way! (btw - glad I persevered as I love my Hudl!)
Kondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books
  • We had a similar issue when we tried to buy two at Christmas, however they are pretty good when you get them so keep trying

I have... but it was in 1996 and our e-mail system wasn't connected to the internet so was incompatible with any system not on our server/network :rotfl: Haven't had the problem since joining the world wide web in 1997 :D

Good news! After three weeks I've finally received the promised giftcard code to replace the boosted vouchers so I have now ordered my Hudl online .. oh joy!

This presumes the FB team for Tesco are actually Tesco - they could easily be a PR company employed to handle Tesco's FB page. (e.g. Aldi's FB page is actually (mis)handled by Weber Shandwick).

Exactly this, most people are unaware they use PR and MArketing firms rather than in house
