OFSTED - I do find it funny how the inspectors are generally failed or uninspiring teachers who needed to move on. (I know one, and he is...)
!
That was my experience of Ed Psychs! :cool:Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

I think the phrase "rise to the level of their own incompetence" is pertinent!0

Yep! One couldn't control a class and the other bored them to death!Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Spendless, if I remember right from your previous posts where you live, my son goes to the same school, though is at Lower not Upper.
Whilst I'm not saying there aren't flaws in the school, the fact it was ripped apart so badly and the fact it has been resisting pressure to become an academy for some time does seem a big coincidence! ;-)0 -

At least special measures means the only way is up!
I'm sure there are some like that, but 2 of the local primary head teachers who are lovely people, inspiring in their vision and leadership of their schools, and who are great to work for I'm told, are Ofsted inspectors. One of them is even employed by the LEA to go round to schools persuading experienced teachers to stay in the career and does team teaching/planning/paperwork with them to try to streamline in order to get their zest for the job back. Apparently he is a whirlwind of learning and engagement in the classroom! Would love to see him go!
The inspection team I had back in February had at least 1 serving headteacher on the team - who gave me practical and inspiring ideas in my observation feedback of how to take the topic forward.
And, I don't know if he still does it, but we had a trainee Ofsted inspector at our school with our 2003 team...the Chinese Detective! Not sure he had ever been a teacher though...Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

News to me that the school has been resisting pressure to become an academy. :cool:Spendless, if I remember right from your previous posts where you live, my son goes to the same school, though is at Lower not Upper.

I was unaware that we had kids at the same school. Have you moved areas in recent years?
I am fortunate that my kids natural ability largely lies above average and these are the kids that haven't been as affected. I've also managed to skip the teacher/s that other parents have complained about.
I know from experience you can tell HT that x is happening and he'll swear blind that it isn't if that isn't his view. I also know you get a better response the minute something goes in writing.
