Ofsted Reports

A period of decompression is used as not all inspectorial bodies get it correct when sending an inspection report. In one instance I know inspectors copied and pasted chunks of a report referencing children and incidents which were from another location. Staff were hauled over the coals and not believed until they could prove that the content was inaccurate. And no apology was forthcoming from either the inspectors or the senior staff who did the hauling.0

He wouldn't have had a choice. He can't release the details until the inspection report is published. If he would have disagreed with the grading, or aspects of it, then appealing could have delayed, but he can't release any detail of it because it's not his report.0

There's also been an extensive argument over the past few weeks about wording over teaching styles in reports, given the changes in the Inspection Framework. Several reports have been issued in draft, then withdrawn and re-issued. In the aftermath, other reports have been delayed while they've been re-written by senior inspectors. So some reports have been later in being published than would normally be the case.
There's an account of some of the issues here.0 -
We were ofsteded Feb 2013. Head and deputy were the only ones who knew outcome until the agreed written report was back in school. Senior management team were royally hacked off as head stuck to rule of not informing them of the outcome either. Head's smile told us all we needed to know though...The delay is so that the report can be assessed by head office to see if the school data and evidence matches up to the inspection judgements and evidence.
Every school round here which has been given a 4 grade has been forced to become an academy. Hope the coming changes in school don't dampen your dd's enjoyment of her last few months at primary.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Don't they go through some monitoring visits first?bylromarha wrote: »Every school round here which has been given a 4 grade has been forced to become an academy. Hope the coming changes in school don't dampen your dd's enjoyment of her last few months at primary.
I'm not overly concerned from my DD's pov. The school became a foundation one a few years back in a trust with the other schools in the same pyramid, and some of their head teachers, who all have good or outstanding at their schools have been roped in to help.0 -

If a maintained school becomes an academy, effectively the previous school is close and then re-opened as a brand new school (in the same building, with the same HT and same staff) so therefore they aren't officially in a category. Quite confusing!
As for your issue with the school, I'd encourage you to raise it immediately. I'm a teacher and I'd rather know that there is a concern immediately which gives me a chance to sort it out with whatever it is. I have a parent who thought their child was way behind with a subject, but had kept this to themselves for two months. I'd have been able to give the parent pointers and also address the situation well before parents' evening.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 #18 £2021.83 declared0 -

So we have a Tory Government 'pushing' the establishment of Academy Schools...
and even more schools apparently going 'down'...
and 'failing' schools being 'forced' to take on Academy status...
and the cynic in me is not a bit surprised...

It's parents evening next week and my issue is not with the class teacher but with something she has been told by a teaching assistant, which I'm aware is incorrect. I will not have the opportunity to speak to the school before parents evening due to working f-time.As for your issue with the school, I'd encourage you to raise it immediately. Fair enough!

OFSTED - I do find it funny how the inspectors are generally failed or uninspiring teachers who needed to move on. (I know one, and he is...)
At least special measures means the only way is up!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
