Sky Customer Services :(

Hi

We're having huge problems getting Sky to fix the cables between the wall and the Sky box and this has been an issue since before Christmas. Sky keep cancelling the service appointments at short notice and their Customer Services refuse to escalate the problem - when we tried requesting to speak a Manager in Customer Services and were told that the Manager refused to speak to us.

We've tried tweeting about them with no luck but after six weeks we're pulling our hair out. Does any one have any tactics or suggestions to we can speak to someone who actually gives a damn and can help us to get the problem fixed?

Thanks in advance.

What has actually happened to the cables between the wall and the Sky box?

If they are physically damaged, it's unlikely Sky will carry out repairs for free unless the damage was caused by one of their installers. It that is NOT the case, have you considered replacing them yourself? You can buy good quality satellite cable for a few pounds from DIY shops or the Internet.

How long have you been subscribed to Sky?

As above: the cables and equipment (dish, LNB, digibox) are not leased from Sky, but yours from day one. So if out of the 12m warranty then you'll be charged a £69 call out for any repair work needed (unless as above it is demonstrably down to a bodged install).
So you might as well get an independent in to sort it if you can't DIY.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Its the weather Sky are crazy busy with repairs / realignments.

Phone and cancel and tell them why.
  • Firstly when you say the cables from the wall to the Sky box do you mean cables from the dish going through your wall to the box OR cables from wall sockets to the Sky box?

If the former then yes Sky do need to sort it out but if the latter then really it is your property (and problem as these are usually damaged through misuse or careless hoovering etc) and could be easily fixed with replacements from DIY centres (such as B&Q or Screwfix) and many electrical shops such as Maplins.
  • This really does sound like a DIY job. Surely you know someone who can help you.

Anyone who agrees to paying the callout fee must be zipped up the back. The subs are Sky's bread and butter, they'll soon cave when you refuse to pay.

Depends on the actual "repair" required, but I doubt we'll ever hear from the OP again..

I agree, but since Sky are not going to fix it any time soon, the OP either needs to DIY it, or call an independent.
