Train always late - season ticket can you get some money back?

So I am really fed up with my train, like am sure many are. I have heard that you can claim money back on late journeys, however there are a lot of articles about claiming back when you have a daily ticket but I have not been able to find anything on season tickets.
I have a yearly ticket and currently have to get a train that is always, I mean always delayed, however not more than 30 minutes. Almost always 10 - 15 minutes, which really disrupts my journey and makes me late. Is there anything that we can do in this instance or is it a case of just sucking it up?

Thanks

Greater Anglia deem any train that arrives within 30 mins of it's timetabled time as being 'on time'.

    It sucks.

Yeah my husband's train (the Stansted Express) is very often late (particularly on the way home) and his season ticket costs thousands of pounds but I don't think he can claim back. Annoying.
  • Which train company is it?

If they are late due to other companies, eg railway works running late, then they get paid for minutes of delay so you'd think that would be there to compensate people like yourself.

I think different train companies have different procedures.

I think your delay has to be over an hour for you to be able to claim compensation...

Try getting this moved to the Public Transport section.
    Someone will help you there.
  • not sure what this has to do with families... there's a whole secton of the forum for Public Transport issues and questions, try there, people might be able to help.

When I had an annual season ticket all they did was offer a discount when you bought one the following year - but the trains had to be ridiculously 'late' before they'd do it.

I know quite a few people who have season tickets with First Great Western and I have heard them saying that they can get money back if the trains are late. I'm not sure how frequently the trains have to be late or what kind of refund/discount they get (5% is ringing a bell), but it's definitely possible. I think it's a fairly convoluted process though.

Maybe start by checking through the T&Cs of the company who sold you your season ticket.....?
