O2 not uphelding promises?

Couple months ago I spoke to a customer rep at O2. And he offered to bring my contract down to £17 with 200 mins. Unlimited texts and 750mb data. I agreed to it but two weeks later when my contract never changed over they said it was a mistake by the customer service rep and that they can't reduce it that much? Are they allowed to do that after he's told me he's already done it? I done it on live chat aswell so positive they'll have the conversation on file!

what confirmation do you have of what was agreed?

How long have you been in the contract for, what handset do you have and what are you presently paying?

Sometimes they may only let you downgrade in steps every few months - stops someone taking out an expensive contract on new iphone and then reducing down to a basic tariff..

The above points ought to show whats a fair expectation and what you have to fall back on as evidence...

I sent them a message just now asking if they have the notes from my account and they said yes so They have a copy of the transcript with there adviser agreeing to reduce my contract to 200 minutes and 500gb data unlimited texts for £17. I have 5 months remaining on a 24 month contract that started on a blackberry and is now an iPhone 4. I pay £22 presently, I just assumed they had a legal obligation to upheld it after he's agreed to it.
