Carphonewarehouse free tablet
Got a deal that feels too good to be true.i feel like I was hoodwinked without realising..
Went to Carphonewarehouse for an upgrade as I was getting nowhere with O2 who I've been with for about a year.i as after the Samsung Note 3 with unlimited calls, test and 1GB data.O2 quoted me £37/month and I had to pay £20 upfront for the phone.
When I got to Carphonewarehouse I got the Note 3 with unlimited calls/texts 1GB data for £32/month no upfront costs..24mnth contract..they then gave me a free samsung 8" tablet..I kept asking why they were giving me the tablet, anyway I took it as they said it was free..
Where is the catch....there must be surely??

This is going to sound grumpy... sorry not meant to sound grumpy
Standard 24 month contract with CPW deal is online catch is you are in a 24 month contract if this suits all is good if it does not then not.
You are paying for the Tab in the deal it is not free nothing is free.
May have cost you at least an extra £40 going in store the phone is free on the advertised deal online and then there is cashback to consider.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
Why catch? Tablets are dirt cheap nowadays.

You could have got £21 TCB cashback on the top as well.0 -
They are making so much profit out of the £768+ you have committed to that it is worth them undercutting the opposition to get your business.0
-
Yep, that's £768 for a phone, tablet and mobile service for 2 years. Not that Carphone Warehouse was that cheap, just that they were much cheaper than o2. Google the model of tablet to see how much it's worth. Under £200 surely...0

As others have said, the tablet isn't free, everything is built into the price.
You have just agreed to pay them £768 for a very cheap tablet (can buy elsewhere for less than £140 and will be even cheaper within a few months), an over-priced phone (not yet available on PAYG, but will be soon and you will be able to get for less than £300 within 6 months or so).
They have done very well out of you.
A fool and their money are soon parted....
Update: Actually it is possible to now buy the Note 3 outright - around £474 at present, but prices are seem be dropping very steeply with time - it was around £600 less than 5 months ago, so it is on track to be around £300 within 6 months. So you are paying £768 for a cheap tablet (currently worth less than £140) than you probably don't even need and an over-priced phone currently worth £474 but losing value at a rate of knots
£140+£474=£614

You ignored the cost of the airtime.
Unlimited minutes (IF the OP really needs them) cost ~£15x24=£360.0 -
No one needs unlimited minutes. This would imply that you never took your phone out of your ear.
For people who eat and sleep and do other things besides talk on their phone, airtime can be had either free or very very cheaply.
The OP was sold an expensive package which includes things he probably doesn't need like a cheap tablet and unlimited airtime (assuming he eats, sleeps and has a life).0 -
As stated nothing is free. Planning out a contract phone should be done carefully and weigh up all options - contract, sim only, payg. Do it across a couple of different priced handsets too so you know the best options.0

With free gifts I'd agree. However, with cashback contracts there is something much better than a free lunch on occasion.0
