Hi Storm- I think shifting wav files around is going to be a bit tricky- we're talking about probably a 15-20 meg file for each track- not the sort of thing you can email around. I'd suggest saving it as a high quality mp3 or wma file - if you encode the mp3 in mono at around 256-320 kbps, the quality will be close enough to CD. Let me know if you don't know how to do that! I'm not familiar with Audacity, so I'm not sure whether it lets you do it- you may need to install the mp3 codec, or use a separate program to turn the wav into an mp3.

Also- anyone who sends me their track- please make sure that it only contains your part and not the backing track as well :)

Please send all parts to: robkspace-abba@yahoo.co.uk

Ps- I realised where I got confused yesterday with all that talk of dominant 7ths.. I think I muddled up E7 and Emaj7. Easily done, I think you'll agree :)

Audacity does let you save it as a MP3 I'm pretty sure (it's on my home PC not work so can't absolutely check right now!)

One question - what are we going to do with it once it's finished? We need to post it somewhere, but I think a copy to Martin is called for too!

Storm- hopefully Martin will host it on his site, but if not I can host it on mine- I have the bandwidth to transfer it about 400 times a month before my hosting company complains! I think we should try and get a mention in the newsletter though. Are there any copyright issues?

IA- when you say 'clean up' do you mean the sound quality of the recording or the performance? (I can do both, to a degree)

lol more the quality as a)the strings are new so there's quite a bit of buzz b)I can't find a way of getting decent volume without distortion c)I'm out of practice.. LMAO.
I've basically got the whole track down all bar a few tiny mistakes... it's so frustrating trying to get it 100% perfect!
Also I've been playing the backing track through media player and playing along is that ok or do you need the backing track in the same program so it's recorded as well???? if so how do I do that?

BTW has anyone actually mentioned this to Martin and seen if he'd be willing to help us in any way? I think with all the effort going in to it we can't just do it and then forget about it!!!

I am a bit worried about the copyright issues, though as long as we don't sell it we should be OK - it's the changing the words thing... The 2 B's from Abba who wrote it might get upset!

As for where to host it - if it does get in the newsletter then goodness knows how many people will be going off to listen to it!
