Did you miss this request in the OP?

Then why did you give your load of old waffle with the caveat that you dont know what your talking about `legally`

    ?
Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

OK, so you've charged her £50 a week storage. Sounds fair to me! :D

I don't think you are under any moral obligation to return it all. If I were to sell it at more than £500, I might consider sending her some back... but I probably wouldn't.

As to legal obligation, no, she volunteered the money as a deposit, and she has pulled out. You do not have to return anything.

I didn't issue a receipt as it was all agreed over the phone. - Will that make a difference?
The £250 was paid into my a/c on 7th Jan. It's cleared OK and still there. I was surprised when she offered such a large deposit, but she was so pleased that she had found the conservatory she wanted at such a good price, she didn't want to lose it. She paid the deposit very quickly after agreeing to buy.

as someone previously posted, it doesn sound a little suspicious:

Q uicklyOffers large deposit without wanting receipt
Pulls out of deal very quickly for a daft reason

I need an umbrella in mine, and some of the double-glazing is misting :p. Good job I like gardening - the lemon trees make good drip collectors.

I do agree with DRP (poetic, hey)

There could be a fraud element to it and, for this reason alone, I'd simply state by text that refund is not available, and you will reconsider the position only when you have managed to dispose of the conservatory and are then aware of any profit - or loss - you incur.

Have you ever consulted a doctor about this silly little inferiority complex you appear to have? :D

That "load of old waffle" is probably reasonably good advice but, like most things legal, nothing is ever certain and should perhaps be checked out. Hence the caveat.

Now be a good little boy and stop carping about those who are bothering to try and help the OP. :A

    Taking on? :rotfl:

Is that really how you see MSE?
