nodiscount has hit the nail on the head. Security experts have continually advised people never to use the same password on several websites but still people do it and get caught out, and then moan that it's someone else's fault because they have been lazy.
The Tesco site is not the most secure website but if it was then few people would have the patience to jump through all the hoops to gain access to it. It has to be a compromise between convenience and security.
All the customers compromised had used their Tesco password on other websites and it was these other websites that were hacked to get the details, which were then tried out on Tesco to see if they worked because the hackers know how lazy people can be.
So if you don't already do it folks, then use a different password on every website that you use.0
