This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good Morning chums ,dry at the moment but its due again by 8.00 a.m. Its certainly been a long wet winter this year and cold on the way next week apparently. My DGS have been hoping for snow for the half term ,but I am just hoping it will dry up for a few days.
History club this afternoon and we are discussing the Home Front in WW2 which will be interesting
My youngest DGS Mikey said last night 'I'll be your Valentine Granny as I don't really like girls much their soppy, but I like you" Oh the honesty of a nine year old bless him:):)
This Sunday would have been my Golden wedding anniversary as we couldn't get the 14th so had to settle for the 16th.It certainly doesn't seem like 50 years.Tempus definitely fugit's when your enjoying yourself:)
Well time to get a move on and have my shower, porridge and off on the school run.Have a good day everyone and keep warm and dry

Morning all,
Been raining most of the night and still going, really fed up with it now but its supposed to be wet all weekend !
Off to work today but I have the weekend off which is good, will drop dd at the station on the way.
Meatballs and spaghetti for dinner tonight with a tomato and chilli sauce, looking forward to that.
Woke up to a box of chocs and a card on the side from OH bless him, I forgot:o, will sort something out today.
Need to do a wash tonight and have a tidy round.
Have good days all, and Happy Valentines day xx0 -
Morning All
Valentine free household here! DD is going out with her friend later as they are both single - bet people think they are a couple!
Talking of DD, she fell up some stairs in the centre she works in and banged her face - under her chin, below her eye and on her forehead - looks a right mess. Thankfully just scraped and bruised, it could have been so much worse.
Washing up to date, DW about to go on. I will strip my bed when I get in as I have a muscle spasm in my shoulders at the moment so it should be easier later on.
Have a good day all, glad it's Friday. Take care. XX0 -
Good Morning All
Been mia last few days as been stupidly busy - getting used to working 5 days - hard but I love it :j
No valentines celebrations here but we will have a takeaway tonight - am hoping for indian.
Doing a little paperwork in my office this morning before I go to work. Also want to do an online shop to be delivered tomorrow, always prefer online shopping but with working full time its a godsend.
House is quite reasonably tidy :T will need to do some ironing soon though!
Have a great day everyone.x0 -
Morning everyone
Now light, dry underfoot and light cloud – doesn’t look like we’ve had a frost. Not very windy here but supposed to be becoming windy and raining again later today.
DH up and getting ready for work.
Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces, mash, carrots, broccoli, LO cauli/broc cheese, LO Yorkshires and gravy. Menfolk had cherry bakewells for dessert. Tonight menfolk will be having chicken and bacon kievs, chips, beans, and salad. I’ll be having mushroom omelette and salad.
I was reasonably productive yesterday – housework done, got the washing, drying and ironing done – there is more but yesterday that washing wasn’t dry enough to iron – will crack on with this today. Will be heading out to town shortly, need to visit the bank, and then do the food shopping. When I get back I will try to get some baking/cooking done – need to get something in the tins for next week as it’s half term. I’m going to visit the butcher today and buy some meat in bulk, then divide it up into meal sized portions and get it in the freezer. I’m doing the GC but just on my own and keeping a note of the spends in my desk diary – it’s not making good reading unfortunately – I’m spending way more than I thought – so need to cut back . I’ve bought meat in bulk before and it does work out cheaper – you just need to be a bit organised so you know what you have in stock and make sure it’s defrosted etc when needed. I’m going to try to cook 2 meals at once so I don’t need to put the big oven on so frequently – I have a halogen oven that I do use but not nearly enough so will see if I can utilise this more.
I’ve been researching some different recipes too, so we can try some new meals.
Have a good Friday x
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
School development day today so no work. DH off today and we are going out, don't know where yet as the weather forecast looks pants.
They have had a sinkhole appear at DS2's school but thankfully it is away from the main building and so no one was hurt. Glad the school is open as usual.
Bed stripped and in the machine, need to do ironing later and pop to the bank either today or tomorrow.
Happy Valentines day ♥0 -
Congrats to NPM - all my babies were surprises !
Hope Hester is ok as flooding is bad in her area x
Snoozer - glad that it went well as can be expected xx
Been up with Molly all night again with her tummy trouble - she has the vets flummoxed. She is settling down now so really hope I can catch some sleep later. Vets want a blood sample when it is on-going but it is always at night now:eek:
My second son took and passed his driving test yesterday after 8 attempts. Poor kid should have passed first time round but his nerves overcame him. Finally he got there and I am so proud as he wanted to give up many times but I would not let him - he gets his stubborn streak from his Mum. It will help me so much as he is the first to learn:T:T:T
Hugs for a good day xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning :hello:
I've been picking at rubbish food for a couple of weeks, food seems like a hassle at the moment. I'm feeling it now, I'm tired and can't be bothered with anything. I've bought lots of fruit and veg with the intention of healthifying myselfSo far so good, I had a baked potato for lunch yesterday
We're going shopping again today, all cleaning stuff and toiletries have run out at the same time. Also need chicken food. The army has been in Gloucester to help with the flooding, not sure if I can get to the feed supplier or Countrywide so might have to buy it in Pets At Home.
Our boiler is dying, it's been repaired twice over the last three years, if we repair it again we'll have paid for it twice over. Been advised that's it's OK to keep topping it up every few days to keep the pressure up, then as soon as we've got the money to ring the plumber and he'll be round to install a new one. It's master tru's friend, there's a few of them who keep their businesses separate but work similar to a co-op, so we'll get a good deal on the boiler and free labour :T Obviously we'll have to pay for the gas safety certificate (or whatever it's called). I've been topping up the savings pot so hopefully we'll have enough by the end of march.
I've finished two cushion covers this week and am about to start making baby blankets.
We're visiting the little man at lunchtime :j I thought back to what I needed a lot of when mine were babies, so I made a couple more blankets and bought useful things like bibs and towels – cute versions though, with little animals on and I Love My Mummy/Daddy, etcYou can never have too many of those things. But what I really wanted to buy was a million teddy bears

Morning everyone,
Feeling a bit grotty as I started sneezing and snuffling yesterday afternoon,I knew I would at some point as DGD has had it and we were in the same bed last weekend. She came for tea last night and seemed worse, she kept saying- I dont feel very well, bhess her .She usually has a bath and put in her pjs before going back but DS had instructions not to bother with a bath. Think I'll make chicken soup and see if it works.
Well cold or no cold the hound dog needs awalking so better wrap up and put my wellies on.Have a good day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
