5:2 Diet (part II)

1400 for me isn't limited, and I burn fat off easily. It's the wine and pizza which adds an extra 800 plus calories which aren't needed. I ate well today, and have never had any problems with my metabolism slowing down. I'm certainly not force feeding myself when full.
My homemade stews are very healthy, and low fat. Tomorrow will be pumpkin, chickpea, and chicken stew Tunisian Style.
I wouldn't think that 1400 calories is limited for any woman. 1400 cals represents a non fast day, as I said. The limited days should be around 500.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Yes, for me it just sets a healthy eating guideline, so I plan meals a bit better.
Today and tomorrow are fast days. I'm aiming for 500-700 calories.
For breakfast I had Simply Nutty Muesli (Dorset Cereals), with Coconut milk approx 250 calories. I drink copious amounts of Green Tea each day which keeps me going, so for dinner I will have Chicken with Pumpkin & Chickpeas which is simmering in my slow cooker nicely, at 256 calories per portion. So hopefully a total of 506, although I may drink another 40 calories worth of coconut milk.
I had to substitute the harissa paste for Tabasco, garlic, paprika, garam masala and seasalt, but it should give a similar flavour. I also doubled the ground cinnamon, and ginger. First time I've cooked this particular dish.New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!0 -

Good that you are adding cinnamon. Its metabolic effects have an indirect effect on body fat. With the increase in insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake, there can be a reduction in body fat, with the greatest effects seen through a reduction in belly fat: http://better-health-post.blogspot.co.uk/2016/10/add-cinnamon-to-your-food-to-burn-belly.html0 -

I've been eating it in dishes for the last week, and my middle does appear smaller. Useful information thank you! Going to keep adding it now.New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!0 -
I lost another 2lbs (weighed this morning) in 3 days due to just eating healthily. I only had one fast day, this will be my second. Im jumping on a different thread I think as for me 4:3 works best, but on fast days eating approx 700 calories. Not fussed if I go over. (There is a 5:2 in reverse which is documented as being great for your metabolism, but It has to be the right balance of food types which from what I've seen.) I rarely feel hungry due to planning meals better, and drinking plenty of Green tea.
For brunch 2 slices seeded whole-wheat toast with coconut peanut butter, plus an apple. For dinner spicy roasted pumpkin, chickpea, garden pea and tuna salad. Approx 780 calories.New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!0 -

I'm glad you managed to lose 2lbs, well done.
TDEE - total daily energy expenditure - represents the amount of calories needed to maintain weight. Obviously, if ones has been over-eating one will lose weight by eating to TDEE.
However, the intermittent fast principle means eat a quarter of TDEE on two days a week to maximise insulin and sugar management.
Being short, I've never managed less than 500. I also soon found it very hard to eat up to my TDEE on non fast days, too.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Thank you. This thread is useful as it's good to see how others are faring. I'm fairly short too, well under average height, with a small frame so extra lbs look a lot worse than they are. I lost another lb today, but I've been adding cinnamon as per Catapatas post, and also taking a supplement. Something is definitely contributing to removing belly fat.
I've had 2 digestive biscuits this morning, plus nutty muesli and am not hungry whatsoever, but I'll have full fat wholegrain bio yoghurt and fruit in an hour or so. Got the remainder of last night's pumpkin/chickpea/tuna for dinner. Should come to approx 1200 - 1300 calories.
Trying to be good, as out this weekend, so maybe a little wine and pizza then!New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!0 -
We're out for a meal tonight, so I've only had three coffees first thing morning, then a miso soup and a single small slice of granary bread.
Didn't intend to have the bread, but OH bought this beautiful loaf and waved it in front of me.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Been doing 4:3 for three weeks now and found it easy. We're off to Tenerife on Tuesday for two weeks all inclusive, and I'm determined to try not to pig out!0

Calorie counting went out the window this weekend, and I had pizza. Good news is I haven't out any back on, so healthy eating again this week!
Today I've just had a nut butter sandwich, plus an apple and some fresh basil and tomato soup for lunch. I may have a mushroom omelette later.New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!0
