Pollyanna, I can't believe what I'm reading from you!

If you're counting down the minutes till your next meal this isn't for you.

    You will go mental!

Take it from me, just eat SENSIBLY.

    It works!

    Just do it

    Cheers fj
  • Not checked in for a few days - still loving this plan, I'm down 8lbs in 3 weeks and I can feel my attitude to food changing already. On my non fast days my appetite has shrunk significantly and I swear my stomach has too. I'm being more conscious of what I'm actually eating too.

Well done, Stargirl. I'm maintaining now, actually lost two pounds more, so allowed myself some extra wine this weekend.

It's amazing how our appetites have changed. OH has now lost 3st and is looking great. He's already had his diabetes meds reduced in dosage.

Out of interest, I've just looked at the Slimming World Thread. It's has pasta and potatoes as free[[/B] foods!

Amazing! And never heard of in any other healthy eating programme.

  • Okay please make it a little simpler by answering the following.
How many days a week you keep fast?
    What includes restricted calories?
You said we have to take 2 days restricted diet and 5 days normal diet then what is the of keep fast?

As of personal opinion in maintaining health, I think we should follow morning walk with consistency, avoid food that contains cheese, oil or any other ingredients that help in increasing fat and cholesterol and last but not the least, junk food which is a routine food in the afternoon but it has no good effects on your health.

I don't understand what you mean by 'keep fast' or 'routine food'.

Mosley's and Mimi's recipes are basically low-carb, with lots of vegetables and pulses. There's a fair amount of meat and fish, but I'm vegetarian, so I've not used those.

They suggest avoiding alcohol on a fast day, but nothing is banned. Make your choices. A small portion of ice cream is allowed.

Clearly the 5:2 diet means you fast,,ie on 500 cals, on two days a week.

We're on a fast day today. Spiced tofu, with couscous and broccoli. The couscous is done with mirin, something we've discovered through these recipes. Lovely.

I'm currently following a 1400 calorie a day plan using MyFitnessPal as a tracker. I'm struggling to fill my quota now I'm thinking about what I'm eating. I've cut out pizza, wine and sweet things which is why. :D
I have previously followed a regime of 3 fast days (500-700) which was hard to maintain (didn't adversely affect metabolism), but will be fine for just 2 fast days with the naughties cut out, although I slipped with a small dairy milk bar today. It was delicious! :)
I currently weigh, 9 stone 2lbs, my goal is to lose another 8/9 lbs. 3lbs lost last week.
New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!

Mosley makes it clear that a limited calorie intake every day will put the body into starvation mode and slow weight loss.

Eat to your TDEE, total daily energy expenditure, on five days a week , restrict on others and you should succeed. I did, losing 21 pounds in four months.

    Maintaining now.

1400 for me isn't limited, and I burn fat off easily. It's the wine and pizza which adds an extra 800 plus calories which aren't needed. I ate well today, and have never had any problems with my metabolism slowing down. I'm certainly not force feeding myself when full.

My homemade stews are very healthy, and low fat. Tomorrow will be pumpkin, chickpea, and chicken stew Tunisian Style. :)
