Bt phone and broadband

bt phone contract is up in march after 12 months,broadband is up after 18 months in september,i rang bt to cancel phone supply but they tell me i have to keep phone line as i have to have it for there broadband

i was under the understanding that you can mix phone and broadband providers,bt line rental is 16 pounds and can get phone line elsewhere for about a tenner so its quite a big saving---anyone any ideas if the info from bt is correct or can i use another provider for phone line

If you had a phone and BB package then you need to stick it out for the remaining term.
I think its wrong of them to have a 12m and 18m plan on the same deal.

The issue is cancelling the phone line wont work because you must have a phone line. But you maybe able to transfer to another provider. Not cancel.

But if your in a package they may charge you more for the BB.

You need to wait for the 18 months. Your BB is linked to the phone so you cant change phone providers without killing your BB. Whatever you do though DONT agree any changes to your phone package. BT have a nasty habit of tying you in to another contract term if you make ANY changes to packages.
