Car engine blown after 9 months ownership

Another vote for what exactly are you expecting?
You bought a ~2.5yr car from a dealer for £10k.
You're trying to px a ~3.5yr car to a dealer. With depreciation and their margin in mind, £7k doesn't sound ridiculous.
Especially given their reputation, the dealer haven't put a foot wrong.0 -
What i would like, even if this is being quite hopeful is to give the car back and choose another car for the price i paid back in May last year.
Theres really no mission of you getting all your money back.
AND in fairness they've done exactly what they should have in terms of treating you fairly thus far.
I guess you could try and play on their good will and say you've lost all confidence in the car, and could they provide you with a preferential deal based on the circumstances - however they are neither obliged to, nor known for going "above and beyond"0 -
Let Uncle Arnie fix it and set up a savings account for when it blows again. Either that or sell it/trade it and take the depreciation hammering. They are terrible engines, if they're not grinding off their own crankshafts they're cutting off the oil supply to the top with a ridiculous grommet around the metal dowel in the head that perishes and instantly, and without warning, starts dribbling out the side of the engine instead.0

Thanks for all the advice guys. I still have a warranty till July next year so may just keep it and until then if anything goes wrong i'll just take it back.0

I would take the repair as well sounds fair but the one thing that surprised me was the part where you said they will source another engine, either used or reconditioned
so they are trawling the scrap yards to get you a replacement motor or are they going to buy one on e bay, if i was covered by a warranty i would want a crate motor put in not a second hand motor with an unknown history
the last motor they sourced must have been US to have blown up in 9 months so lets hope the do better this time0 -

If it's got that bad a rep, I'd take the money and run, thanking my lucky stars with every step. Let somebody else have the (almost inevitable) future hassle.0
