Help needed - Selling Old DVDs

Options
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but I've decided that enough is enough and am attacking the mountains of clutter in our house, I have a suitcase stuffed full of DVDs that we've gathered over the years and want to get rid. Can I ask what others have done with old DVDs, CDs & Books etc. to get the best price for them?

Thanks!!

Hate to say it, but there is not a market for them, you cannot even give them away except perhaps to a charity

I volunteer at a charity, we chuck them if donated because we find nobody buys DVDs these days

I hope to be proved wrong, best of luck

Yes they do! I've just given a load to our local hospice shop. They don't want videos thpugh. I have sold some of mine on Ebay. Magic Magpie does them too, but they don't pay a lot.

  • Depending on what DVDs they are have you can try selling them on your local facebook selling page, I've been quite successful with sales especially kids DVDs, if not you can try music magpie, you won't get much probably around 30p each but they will take both DVDs and CDs. I use them as well if the fscebook selling doesn't work.

Gumtree or Cheapcycle are other places to try
  • I looked into selling a load of mine a while back, MusicMagpie offered about 20p each (a bit more for special editions or unusual ones), I reckon that's the most you will get. I decided it wasnt worth the hassle for such a small amount and gave them to the charity shop.

CS do sell DVD's. What about doing a car boot and take them t o CeX if you have a shop close by. I'd also second the local facebook selling page.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)
  • Some dvds can be worth a lot. The most I ever got for a single DVD was £50
on eBay. It's worth doing your research.
  • I agree with midnight express some DVDs can be worth quite a bit. A while ago I sold loads of DVDs. I checked the price of every one of them on amazon marketplace and eBay. After fees and p&p if I would make at least 50p profit per DVD then I'd list them, if not then I'd use music magpie- it's a lot less hassle.
    Hope you get them sold.
  • I had the same situation, but it's definitely worth while looking around to see if some DVDs are worth more. I sold mine through Amazon, ebay, CeX, Music Magpie (although it has mixed reviews I've never had any issues with them) and Zapper who also take books. The ones I couldn't sell I donated to my old university.

    Hope that helps! :)

  • I sold a load of DVDs and CDs at the last car boot we did - £1 each. They nearly all went (blokes were particularly keen). So if you fancy getting rid of lots of stuff in addition to DVDs that's an option - or find a friend or neighbour who is doing one and agree to split the proceeds if they'll sell them for you (or split the cost of the stall and go along on the day?)
