Purchased used car help??

Hi all,
Bought a 2008 ford focus from a main dealer just after Xmas and not been happy since. The car had been in the garage twice because it has a jerking effect and they seem to not fix it or so call notice it. It's getting me right down because what I paid for it I'm not happy. I am considering seeing if I can take the car bk but do I have a right to do this or will they laugh?? Sorry if it's in the wrong section.
Thanks

What do you mean by "jerking effect"? When does it happen?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
Petrol or diesel? engine size? mileage?
any engine management light on?
is there more symptoms other than jerking. like white smoke out the rear black smoke out the rear? heavy fuel use?
is the jerking only when after selecting gear with vibrations? is throughout the whole rev range? how many times have you taken it back, have you been out with their "tech guys" to show them the issue.
give us an example like: when i put it in first gear the revs go high up there seemes to be little or no bite to clutch then when fully released clutch pedal it starts the kangaroo dance and then revs its nuts off while not actually going anywhere.0 -
Petrol 1.6 57000 on the clock with fsh. Fuel don't seem heavy and it happens when accelerating 2nd third and 3rd to fourth it can can hesitate to pick up speed. When cruise in fourth like I said it can have a jerking sensation but again it's intermittent but seems to do it more when car is warm. Took the car bk twice and first time they said it was spark plugs and it did seem little better but not right still. The second time they said they can not find a problem with the car. I have had a few cars in my time and you know when something don't feel right.0

coil pack/s would be my first suspect after plugs.0

Thought the engine management light will come on if faulty coil pack??0

Not necessarily. All failures and all EMLs are not created equal, often transient misfires don't put the EML on until they've become quite serious.0 -
Oh right. Can they be tested if I mention this to the garage0
-
If the plugs made a small improvement then coil pack and leads should be done next.
What sort of revs/gear is this happening?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I would try a new set of HT leads before changing the coil pack. At 60k they are ready to be replaced anyway.0

From second to third gear and this to fourth so presumably the revs are getting high trying to accelerate. But cruise along at 30mph in fourth gear it can feel like a cough sensation.
Think I will book it bk in to the garage before my warranty runs out. New car for me and not really happy at all.0
