My mum-in-law made her will in 2000 & named me & the solicitor as her executors. In 2010 she received a general mailshot from another solicitor saying they had taken over the practice that had done her will & they now held the original. If you are going to proceed they should send you a chapter 1 letter (if they are going to charge you) this should contain their complaints procedure. As soon as you get the renunciation start using it. They may well refund you just to get rid of the complaint, if they don't resolve it to your satisfaction you have the right to escalate it to the ombudsman.
