watch the fees on buying foreign currency with most credit cards...it might be scary.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

is there anything i can do to check if i can get one? without it going on my file?
Not really, you could try a soft search (I think nationwide do one, but PLEASE CHECK BEFORE DOING IT!) - there's a guide on the site somewhere - a very helpful person will be along hopefully to provide the link - as to likelyhoods to getting a card, but the only way to find out is to apply - unfortunately this may have an adverse effect with you getting a mortgage, most people don't lend within 6 months of getting a mortgage.
Oh and £3k is WAY too much for 2 people. I went for 19 days and spent just over £1k between two of us and bought a lot! Why do you think that it will cost £215 per person per day for food and entertainment? That is just ludicrous, unnecessary and to be quite blunt, stupid.0 -
In june i am going to las vegas for a weeks holiday with friends and family. This year i have had a lot going on, from buying first house to buying a car.
Come june my plan is to use a credit card to purchase my us dollars approx. £3,000 will be going on the card.also just to add
i cant actually get any credit whatsoever, because my mortgage is going through and im not allowed to show any credit on my file because of the amount i am lending, over the next few months around the vegas time, i will be purchasing housing stuff, kitchen appliances and a sofa, sofa was guna be on buy now pay later.
what would you suggest and how to do it??
I would seriously consider giving the holiday a miss unless you have a HUGE salary. You have purchased a new car, are buying a house, having a £3K holiday and then furnishing your house on yet more credit. All this before you have even lived in the house and know how you are managing financially once the mortgage and bills are paid.
It looks like you are really stretching your finances and therefore this has the potential to go very wrong. I am sure that you don't want to be back on these forums in six months or a years time for advice because you are struggling with your debts.0 -

I agree, putting £3k on a card for a holiday, buying a house, car and furnishing said house on a card, then looking for another card to move it all to doesn't sound like a brilliant idea does it ?0 -
Cheers guys for the heads up, we are going with a group of friends and that is just the most ppl out of the group are taking, from £1300 to £2k each. I av no clue how much i need like i say never been before. But i reckon it is abit pricey because it is las vegas. Maybe im wrong...... All of you guys reckon this is far too much. What you guys reckon i shud take for me and my partner?
I think i need to re asses the situation.
