*work done... Ooops - auto correct!
Hope you have a great weekend too welsh mummy!0 -
Oooh little bit of unexpected money saving - went to get my valentines prezzie with DH as the shop had shut early. I remembered my loyalty card this time (minor miracle) and the book I wanted had 20%off anyway and we got an extra $3 off with my card.... Into the savings it goes :-)0

Oooh what a lovely mse day. Lots of tomatoes & chillies in from the garden and for the price of a kilo of cheapo sugar from the supermarket I have 4 pots of tomato, chilli and lemon marmalade. Dinner is cooking in the oven - bacon, red onion, mushroom and tomato quiche and corn on the side. All the veggies other than the tomatoes came from the veg box and the quiche was made from all store cupboard/fridge ingredients. The thyme and cayenne pastry is tasting mighty fine even if I do say so myself. DH in the good books after saying 'you're very clever in the kitchen' and going to buy me more wine (not very mse but somethings are just required on a Saturday night :-) )
Feeling very happy this evening. I hope you all have a great weekend :-)0 -
Morning all
I NSD planned hereo we will see how I get on...
Have to take key I got cut yesterday back to shop as it will open the car but not start ignition. DH thinks a bit of a trim on the shoulder might fix the situation...
Had a big (slightly wine influenced) discussion re MFW with DH last night. We have had a long standing dream to move the country - that's only about 2 km for us - but I asked if we had the option to live here MF would he choose that instead. And yes he would, so that's very good to know. If we ha the option to move and only have a small mortgage for a few years then yes I think we'd both still go for that, but this is looking more like our forever home. The house is great, but the only thing we'd both like more of is the garden. It's titchy. It will have to do.
Asked DH if he'd be interested in coming on a free course I've found about investing, and after a little bit of discussion yes he would...
Off to farmers market, not to buy anything but to pass on some tomatoes to my cousin, and I will not take cash so I can't spend any money. Then I'll be going to try and get the key fixed and then maybe some woodwork painting.
Got round to listing one thing for sale last night - hasn't had any views yet even grrrrr...
Right best go feed those cats as one has come to sit on my head and try to claw my eye balls out.....0 -
Well done on the veg growing we don't have much room for a veg plot although we did try growing carrots last year in a tub and they turned out tiny but were still edible and quite delicious.MFW - currently at £23,610 (Aug 2014) MFD 20200

Ah yes, also announced to DH that I'll be doing the flooring tiles in the bathrooms and downstairs loo, when we get round to doing it.
He looked at me funny but didn't try to stop me, so that's labour charges saved off that plan.....0 -
Ooh thanks welsh mummy! I try and grow the more expensive things to save extra. Went a bit nuts 'collecting' tomato plants this year and we have been absolutely swamped! My chillies have done really well. Had a complete failure with pumpkins last year... Lots of things are happy in a reasonably sized pot if you don't have much space :-)0

Managed to stick to my NSD as planned so very pleased with myself today. And I got the key fixed up in the shop and it now works hurrah! Was also not lazy and did lots of painting in the house today.
Trying to generate some enthusiasm for vacuuming and ironing now and totally failing.... Maybe I'll have a wine to help me contemplate the housework :-)
Hope everyone has a good rest of weekend0 -
Well done Hoglet - if you and your partner are on the same page, the whole thing gets much easier doesn't it. All the pulling is in the same direction.
