completely clueless and need broadband/tv etc

As the title states really, I don't know where to start looking.

I haven't really got a clue on these matters at the moment and I am moving into my new home next month, so need to be prepared, so any general advice and direction would be appreciated.

firstly I will tell you what my requirements are, I am wanting line rental, broadband (preferably unlimited), and some sport. Ideally at some point I would like to add sky sports. I would also want to put premier sports on there for my Australian Rugby league. I've been currently looking at sky and BT.

Any pointers and advice would be appreciated, as I certainly want to be as money savvy as possible.
Finally, I hope i have posted this in the correct forum

Thankyou

What channels is it that you're after for the Australian Rugby League - this will dictate what TV packages you need to go with.
Also check wether you can get FTTC (often referred to as BT Infinity, up to 40Mb or Infinity 2, up to 80Mb) or Virgin in your area at: www.samknows.com
  • Hi, Virgin doesn't work in the area I am moving to.

If sky sports is just too expensive, I will leave it. The Australian rugby league is on premier sports which is an extra £10 I think with sky.

BT don't offer Premier Sports, on YouView its just BT Sport and ESPN.

Looks like you're stuck with Sky then if the £10 Premier Sports is what you want. Sky can get to be better value if you go all in (TV, phone, Broadband) with them, use an introductory offer, then after 12 months, haggle with them.
  • I have decided I am choosing sky, as I have been offered 25 pound a month for the complete bundle for 25 months.
Went for talk talk aswell as the line rental and unlimited broadband was very cheap with no set up costs etc.

Think at a later date I will add Premier sports, once it's all sorted.

Guess the fun and games start in 2 years when I have to haggle for an half decent package to compete.

Pleased you got sorted, Everynamestaken. But believe me, in two years time, the retail TV and BB market will look completely different to the way it is now. And there will be far more choices! Should be cheap too.

But when you say the Sky 'complete bundle' for £25 a mth over two years, what do you mean? What is the bundle?

I was a wondering that too, never heard of any two year deals either...
  • Sky + HD
    sky sports
    sky movies
    entertainment extra
    Free set up etc
    sky go
    on demand

It's not on there website. I just put on fb "anyone work for sky who can get me the best deal", and hey presto, I was offered this.

Like I say though, I will make most of it, because I am sure they will hike it up after 2 years.
  • Looks like you got a Sky "Friends and Family" deal.
