I think everyone needs to remember it is a competition forum and all this nastiness needs to stop. I am fed up of seeing people say that they are light hearted and hate the nastiness on here and then seeing the same people keep posting messages stirring things.
I pm'd glad to have the who shot john thread closed because it was full of pointless nastiness. I'm sorry if people are offended and I know i'll get shot for this but i'm fed up with it all both the trolls and those feeding them need to knock it off. life's too short and this forum is provided for us to talk about competitions not to create lynch mobs. I appreciate your honesty, but I think you should have said that on the thread and left and not gone back if it upset you so much.
It goes back to what I was saying earlier if folks don't like what they are hearing/reading then they start to play the victim. If you don't want to hear another persons opinion that will differ to yours then don't ask the question on an open forum, just go ask your friends who will agree with you.
I don't want to point to any particular thread but I still stand by what I said in my OP, that no thread should be closed/deleted/edited unless it is abusive/racist/hurtful ect.
It was pointed out a few days ago that folks apologise before they have even asked a question, there are some sharp tongues in this forum but I think that is all they are, definitely not abusive or hurtful. If this iron fist moderation continues no one will dare to speak in here
Should I go running to an admin to have this thread closed because WeAreGhost said all the trouble makers are women (I know he was carrying on) that may have offended me .... of course not that is his opinion and every has a right to an opinion

for the record I didn't go running to anybody and nor did the thread upset me, I have no personal attachment.
I simply sent a pm to glad asking him to look at the thread and decide if it needed closed before any more upset could be caused. That is the job of the admin and why they are here.
I think it's sad if you feel yourself superior to the admin, they closed the thread, perhaps you should respect that leave the matter to rest and stop opening the discussion up again. I won't be drawn to argue anymore.
i'm saddened that this is what keeps people up at night, instead of investing so much anger in the wrongs committed in the make believe world online, open your door and see some of the real issues happening on your street and do more to help them.

Sorry but I agree with the OP it is getting very much like an over the top policed forum with no real reason for closing some threads. Most forums allow open and frank debate and discussion. It does seem that threads are closed recently for no reason as no rules are being broken. This isn't the Disney Club its an open forum. Also agree that unless real bullying occurs (Which I agree should be closed down and stamped out) that if you don't like the content of a thread simply stop reading it but don't dictate what the rest of the adults on the board can legally discuss. I fully expect this thread to be closed too. Doesn't keep me up at night but obviously does you because it bothered you enough to ask for it to be looked at instead of you simply stopping reading it. If thats not a case of dictating what others do I don't know what is.
Superior? No. But we're not inferior either. I just think its a slippery slope when anything that isn't buttery, flowery or pat on the back is censored in some way. Never seen it anywhere else.August-September 2017: Lots of stuff

For the record you did go "running" (sorry that was me typing the way I talk) to the admin you said that in your previous thread that you reported the thread, and asked for it to be closed.
I can assure you that I in no way feel superior to anyone, in my book all are equal
I don't want thread closed/edited/deleted I want to hear folks opinions, that is how we learn by listening to those who's thought are different to our own.
I don't want to argue with anyone I only wanted folks to know that in my opinion it is wrong to close/delete threads and to see what other folks opinion of the matter is.
As I said earlier I am willing to listen to other folks opinions and I appreciate your honesty in saying that you reported the thread and asked if it should be closed, in my opinion that was wrong it was not your thread to ask for that to be done, the thread was not at all abusive and should not have been closed (I think I am more upset that more than 50% of the thread was deleted as well as the rest of it being closed)
You have your opinion I have mine, we will have to agree to disagree and move on that is how we learn“I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.” - Billy Joel

I think the point was what was being discussed on the other thread involved a real family. There were too sides either everyone is right and they can sleep at night knowing that they were vindicated or they've just opened up a truly horrific wound and put a family through hell for nothing. I have to admit I am probably considered one of the 'stirrers' by some. And yes, I'm female, although what my gender has to do with it I'm not sure. I would prefer not to be judged on my gender, but this isn't helped by the fact I'm writing my PhD on feminism... As Mansey says, we all have a right to our opinions
It is quite scary that threads are deleted - I've known forums that lock threads, but to delete without giving the OP a reason is unusual to say the least. It was not only the thread here that was deleted, but also the one in the Site Feedback section requesting the board admin to have a look at what was happening. To me, that seems somewhat unfair, and suggests that all questions must be asked via email rather than the public forum - when, actually, the deletion of a thread affects far more users than just one.
If I don't understand why thread X was deleted, I might start another thread tomorrow that's closed down for the same reason, yet not know any better.
I think it's true that the CCC board has gone off topic - it's a shame that there isn't somewhere we (as a comping community) can just 'chat' about things that aren't strictly comping tips and questions. There is the Arms, but it is a bit intimidating given the way I've seen users from the other boards treat compers from here in a negative way.0
