Help with new phone contract - Carphone Warehouse/Vodafone

Hi
I bought a new phone last week through carphone warehouse on a 24 month contract. This was my first mistake I guess...anyway, I received it last friday. They didn't activate the sim til the following tuesday and it was a different number than the one given. They gave me the wrong minutes...basically a total screw up. So after being fobbed off by their staff a number of times and a few days of trying to get it sorted, everything seemed ok
Today, however, my phone just turned off without warning and won't turn back on. I've reset the phone and left it to charge, but it looks faulty.
My question are this:
Who do I speak to about the phone being faulty and what rights do I have? I want a full replacement whether it turns on again or not, new items shouldn't develop faults like this so soon (or ever)
Is it possible still to cancel the contract? The phone is in perfect condition cosmetically, but it has been used (protective film taken off, the sim card paper has been removed) of course. I no longer think that either cpw or vodafone deserve my custom.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
I'm sorry to see that things haven't got off to the best of starts for you.
In regard to your faulty phone you'll need to refer this to Carphone Warehouse.
Also, as it seems that you may still be within your cooling off period you'll need to speak to them regarding cancellation of the account too.
Kind regards,
Lee
