I think I did, but none seemed to address what a mortgage was, only about the leasehold / freehold part. So I explained that too for completeness and context.

Ahhh, well done :) To be fair, I think the rest of us concentrated on the freehold/leasehold bit. But all information is good information :) (unless it is bad information or wrong information of course :p )

Also bought 2 x PG Tips 160s, but they didn't appear on the APG as they contained the Free colour changing Mugs. Therefore, the mugs actually cost me £1.12 each !! Now to decide whether to keep or return? Was hoping they'd compare. Ones without the mugs compare 3.00 to 2.09 !

    I agree
No offence taken well not by me but thats not how I or any of the others that answered took the question.

The OP asked whether Freehold meant that there was no mortgage. All the answers given explained what freehold and leasehold meant, but none explained what a mortgage was, or how it related to Freehold.

    Unless I missed something ...

Owning a property freehold means that you own the property and the land it's on, applies mostly to houses.
Leasehold is more likely to apply to flats, where you could own the property but not the land it sits on. Leasehold is basically owning the right to occupy.
It is also possible to have a share of freehold property, again usually flats etc where the occupants own a share of the freehold. that means they own and are responsible for communal areas of the building.

    HTH :)

ETA this has nothing to do with whether you have a mortgage or not

    :T:T:T

When I appoint professional advisers, I usually ask them a few acute question.

Q1. Do you have a freehold mortgage ?

Q2. Do you have a lease hold mortgage ?

Q3. Do you have both ?

Q4. Are you aware of what a major works invoice can do to your profit/ loss column ?

Q5. How much does the leasehold property need to gross income v losses to make a profit ?

Q6. Did you ask the local authority if they have any plans for major works in the next 5 years ?

Q7. What is the max rent ?

Q8. What is the monthly expenditure ?

Q9. What is my profit ?

Q10. What is your fee ?

When you can answer those questions, you can be my adviser, until then...
