"Courtesy Calls"
So are courtesy calls the new cold calls. I have had a number of calls lately from companies flogging something or other and when I have questioned them cold calling they have said its not a cold call its just a courtesy call. Sorry but if I haven't asked you to contact me its a cold call. Is this some pathetic attempt at getting around regulations as it is incredibly frustrating and not exactly courteous!! One was from a company stopping cold calls?!?!? Seriously!!?

If you don't have an established relationship with the caller and you aren't glad to receive the call, it's mealy-mouthed corporate bull. The old "we're not selling anything; it's a survey is too well-known now.
I daresay some telesales people actually believe what they're saying. I doubt anyone else does. Really can't figure out what's so courteous about interrupting your day to persuade you to buy something.
