BT Changed Broadband contract after I cancelled my Line rental supplier

As above.
I was recently contacted by a supplier about a business line and when I seen the savings made the change. Things look cheaper and the line wasn't interrupted during the process. The supplier then contacted me to say they could also save me with my home line rental. I didn't want to be charged a cancellation fee so made this known. The supplier sent me a letter saying they would cover up to £300 cancellation fee if applicable. With the saving I again said yes to the move providing I didn't have to pay anything above what I had been paying. I was happy with the BT service but wanted to reduce the line rental.
I then get an email from BT saying thank you for your broadband order. I looked at the order form and it is the same package I am currently on. The only thing has changed is the price increased by roughly £10. I contacted BT to ask why they had changed the price of my broadband and they said becuase I had changed suppliers they had reset my contract for broadband. Surely they cannot just change a contract like this? I am waiting unto the other supplier (Unicom) opens to ask them what they are going to do about it.
Anyone any similar stories or what can I do to either cancel the line rental with unicom or get my original broadband price with BT. I was happy with the BT broadband but wanted a saving on the line rental.

If you were on a bundle package of broadband and calls and were still within your minimum term then the below is from BT website of what happens if you take the line away from that bundle.
Ending the MPSA (multi play service agreement)
If you move your telephone line, calling plan or broadband service to another provider but continue to take any remaining services with BT, we will automatically end the MPSA. If you do this within the minimum period for your chosen package we will provide each remaining service on a new single contract with a new minimum period.
Sounds like you were still in term for the package and the above has been applied.

The Unicom rep that sold you the telephone line will have known the consequences of you taking the telephone line away from BT and should have told you that the price of the BT broadband would increase if you changed the contract. It is their job to know these things and it happens all the time. But if you had been given this information, would you have transferred the telephone line to Unicom? No - of course not!
Shocking way to do business!
