if you have flour and baking ingredients you could make some plain scones, or some plain biscuits? I always made a point (pre breadmaker!) of keeping a bag of bread flour in so I could make my own if I got desparate!
Recipe for No-Knead bread here - http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/08/dining/081mrex.html?ex=1185768000&en=c3f4b4dc5633ad05&ei=5070
though you might want it a little quicker than that!
Failing all else can you get to a supermarket for a value loaf?
I couldnt do without my carbs!!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Well, I came under budget
- spent £254.68 and budget was £290
This was down to me being on holiday for a week - at my Mum's in France. We paid for a meal out, but the rest of the time ate at her house, so no expense there.
I've just taken into account the groceries we bought in this country - hate to think how much we spent in the French supermarket  (mostly on wine tho  ).
Going to allow £280 for budget this month. Hope this is realistic as last month wasn't a 'real' month iyswim.
It's very interesting to read how you all have different budgets for stuff - I'm just trying to draw my first one up on an excel spreadsheet, so it's a great help seeing what you have listed. Thanks! :beer:0 -

I may have been a bit prematur celebrating my July success. DD invited herself and her boyfriend over to lunch today , so, after doing a quick check on the veggies I had to go out and buy some more. Also got some profiteroles and cream for afters. After we had finished main course the conversation got going and I completely forgot about the pudding, so DW and I will have them all for tea :rotfl:.
Also have run out of strong flour so maybe will just go over after all. Burying head in sand until Wednesday when all will be revealed.

Did really poorly this month £474.80 spent on a £350 budget but in my defence, I had my Mum staying for a fortnight unexpectedly and it threw me out completely. Try harder next month, although it is school hols so will allow £400 I think.Proud to have dealt with our debt. DFW Nerd 1474
