what date does next challenge begin?

The new thread will be up on 1st August. Gemma is right, your month should run according to your payday, some people get paid mid month so their month will rum from payday to payday. Its whatever suits your situation really. ;)

Had horrendous few days timewise. This past weekend was spent in London but I didn't include it in the budget as I had saved for spending money. This week started on the 20th officially, and I look to come in under budget for the week, and therefore with the other weeks' overspends I should come in under budget for the month!

Officially I started out the month saying I'd include takeaways in this, if and when there was spare leftover for the current week. Truth became known that this was nigh on impossible for me to stick to. I paid out for them a few times over the month with other money - is that cheating? I think one a week was all. Call it entertainment budget - as we don't go out or rent movies very often.

I'm set for August now! My 5 week month starts Friday. I ordered a Tesco delivery for the month of August of all my pasta, rice etc and bulk cat food, along with most of the perishables for the week ahead - except fruit as I find they bruise my apples and don't pick out the best usually. I'll go to my new favourite market stall for the f+v other than the king edwards I ordered from tesco and a handful of onions and peppers. With the delivery charge added and the £5 off code discounted, soon I will update my siggy with August's running total of so far £73.20. Budget will be set at £200 again as it has been a bit of a struggle. Should be eased by the fact I don't have to cart everything home every week, well not cat food and dry goods at least.

Just popped in to say that I am on target to equal last month's spend even though this month DD came back from college and MiL came to stay.

Freezer still seems full and have not used all of the Tesco 'heavy' delivery!

    £35 still 'in hand' too!

Applemella we were spending that (and a bit more) for 2 adults and 3 older teenagers (1 is actually 22). I began last month by writing down everything I spent as I spent it, which made me see where and on what my money was going. I saved £70 on my usual monthly spend just by doing that.

This month I aimed to maintain that spending even though the demand for meals will be greater.

Next month might be a 'bargain' as OM & I will be away for 2 weeks, DD is on a course and Number 1 son and Son 2 will also be away at different times. I think this will be a different kind of challenge as I don't want to waste/ have to throw away food - this can happen when we are in and out a lot. Target for August: save at least £125 on usual spend. (ooh!)
