..... oh and £100 less on food in total as we couldn't get second meat pack due to DWP owing us £489 income support back money. :-(

what a pain, hope they get it sorted for you soon!

not spending anything this week, though I still have a few £s left. I will put it by for next month, gd is visiting me soon and that might be a bit more expensive than usual! ;)

 Ooops went into a shop didn't I, but did get bargains aswell as the milk, bread etc I went in for, nothing I bought wasn't at least half price or on bogof. Pet food for next month bought while I was there as was very little stock of what I get and she said no delivery until 14th August, so thought best get it, that will go on next months budget however. Still under budget however :D will add it to total when I find receipt, I paid cash but also bought stock for the shop that was on offer at the same time so I need to seperate those, I know there is at least one note and change in there (grocery purse) so happy. Roll on Sunday when the budget ends :) new challenge begins.
One day I might be more organised...........

Well, I thought I might need a bit more fruit and some bread........ended up spending £18!
BUT, I can honestly say I didn't waste a penny.;) Just had a change of heart about what to buy when. ie, I was desperate for the fruit/bread, but needed some extra bits for the weekend which, technically, will come under August. Decided I might as well get them whilst I was in the shop anyway....AND, because I am under budget, I have decided to be a good girl and include the spend in this month, even though the stuff is for next month!!
So, I have managed to meet my first grocery challenge. WOOHOO

I think I am going to set August's challenge at the same £200 - we are going away in the caravan for a week with DD, SIL and grandson so that's 2 and a bit extra mouths to feed plus I always end up spending a little bit more when we are away in the caravan.....part of the holiday is the particular foods we eat whilst away and the little extra treats we allow ourselves! (like 3 gallons of Wine!)
PLUS, I started this month with a freezer already stacked full - can't say the same for August!!

Oops... I'm going a bit awry this month..... already spent more than last month (though still under budget) and have just spent another £17.65 today on crisps, £10 beef for steaks (4 dinners worth), some catfood (need more though) and washing powder (didn't need it but I had extra points coupon)

Still need some meat though undecided what we'll be getting. Have plenty of mince and steak now, lamb for roasts and chicken quarters for 2 meals. Other bits and pieces too but I doubt enough...

Ho hum... off to update sig now

  • Well managed my budget for first month. Set it at £160 instead of the £200 plus I used to spend and just about managed up to this weekend when my new month will start. I used to waste a lot of food but only thing wasted this month was a pineapple.:p All the meals I cooked for freezer have gone and so has all the meat, just the turkey in there now plus some fish and veggies. Still have a few tins in cupboard plus pasta, pesto etc. I am so pleased with myself. Have made my meal plan for month but as I still have washing powder etc I may be able to save a bit more. This weekend I will try to make a start on my personal spending budget but that is for another board. Thanks everyone for your support and ideas.:j

I'm £13 over. It feels like this month has been going on for ages. I've included my on line Asda shop which is being delivered Sat but then going to start a new month.

Well just tallied up and I have £32.15 left till end of month. I do have a few items I need to buy but should come in on budget (no not should I WILL!!!). Its mainly baking things as got family coming over on sunday but got everything in I need for that.

Am looking at next months and think I am gonna try for £300. I have kept all receipts for this month so will look through there to see where I can cut back (mainly junk plus paying inflated prices at somerfield). I think I will do a 10 day shop from tescos too. Have started working on shopping meal/meal plan already. Am determined to cut that £50 off.
