Glad it got fixed.

TBH thinking that BT would invent an imaginary fault and cut off your service to back that up to recover the cost of an introductory offer qualifies for my top ten of paranoid postings.

I had the same issue where they were going to charge me £130 but they only do that if for example your equipment (phone or hub etc) is faulty or rubbish or not set up correctly. They had to replace the wire in my house so I didn't get charged but please don't panic. If they did charge you they just add it onto your bill so I think you pay it off over time. The longer you don't have them come out, the longer you are paying for a service you cannot use.

OK I just read you got it fixed (I was too eager to reply!) But I hope this helps anyone else in the same situation

I wonder if they are like the computer science student that brought a PC to me to fix.

Seems he "borrowed" their windows disc and thought he would get a freebie. But he read the label. It was a restore disc.
So starts up selects erase everything and start afresh.

So it wipes everything off and then starts the recovery procedure. As the hardware was totally different he had to keep trying to get it to install. Having to manually reset it.
Eventually its in so much of a mess it wont go any further without stopping and giving fault codes.

I had to giggle.
