Does "free lifetime maps" address this issue?
I don't know, but TomTom keep sending me emails trying to flog me five quarterly updates for about £50. I fell for it a couple of times but never again.
I'll buy a satnav with free lifetime maps next, whatever the make. Or get a satnav app for my iPhone or tablet."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

What about this one?
I know its a little more but it has free map updates & 3 years live.

If so you might be able to use that with a holder and a car charger. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

TomTom Via 130 EU M 4.3 Inch Full Europe Sat Nav
I recently went for the TomTom Via 135 M which is similar, but has a five inch screen. It's been pretty good - although the battery doesn't last as long as I had hoped.
The free map updates is good as well - although the first time I plugged it in the update took three hours.
It's quite quick in town when you have lots of streets and roundabouts to navigate and to recalculate a route.0
