As has been said, there are few operators, if any, that do not charge that £10 fee.

However, you haven't told us where in the country you are planning to travel.

If your journey is wholly on Southern Railway's trains, you can take advantage of their Money Back Guarantee.
Put simply, book online and they will allow a full refund on their own Advance Singles without any fee, provided the tickets have not yet been collected.

That guarantee also covers most tickets other than Advance Singles across the whole country.

People read the fees for banks before they go overdrawn does not make the fees fair.

Ermmm... didn't the Supreme court rule in the Banks favour?

    It did.

And the other spurious examples provided in an earlier post are also perfectly fair and legal.

Supreme court isnt always right. What is fair to one section of people may not be fair to others.

What examples do you speak of? Which ones do you think are fair? Legal yes but moral certainly not.

Why does anyone book with the trainline? If you book through the website of any of the train operators you do not have to pay the booking fee charged by trainline and the database is exactly the same.

From the top of my head, the premiums that tour operators charge during peak periods are perfectly fair and legal. Why shouldn't those who travel when demand is high and supply at its most stretched pay a premium?

    But that's another debate entirely.
