Clothes budget spent today. V good. Not overspent and got everything I needed. Had to compromise on the new pants, though. £24.50 for three pairs of Sloggi is extortionate...got Pretty Polly for a bargain three pairs for £5.99 in TKMaxx instead. Feeling proud. :)

    Hi HB.

    How are you doing?
You're doing brilliantly, even if you did buy wine. Sometimes we all need a treat.
Wish I was as restrained as you with your money atm though.
I'm in full blown holiday mode and have spent around £100 in the last 24/36 hours.
    Oops.

But it's ok, because my new full-time job will pay for it.
I didn't get the supervisor job, but I didn't get offered full time to replace the person who did get the full time job.
    So I accepted without hesitation.
I'm really excited and will start full time a week on monday when I get back from my holiday.
I haven't decided where Im going to focus the extra money though - paying off my car finance, paying back my mum, my house deposit, my pension fund... I don't know. Too many choices. I think I'll play it by ear.
I do know though that some of that money is going to have to go towards a gym membership. I need to get back there because I am stuffing my face silly atm. Oh dear. That'll be back on track after holiday too :D

Well done re the job, elfie! You'll be able to make inroads paying some of your debts now. Enjoy your holiday!
I'm fine, thanks for asking. Didn't drink all the wine. Got some left for later. Good luck with the gym...that's my worst nightmare. I shall have to do something about losing weight, though because a lot of my summer clothes that I got out today when I was rearranging my wardrobe are too tight!

I joined the gym and weight watchers last april and lost 2 and a half stone in 14 weeks. Since then I've put on about 7-10lbs. I'd like to be a bit lighter, but atm, every time I have a day of motivation, I have 10 days of demotivation =(
But I've been doing the C25k program because I signed up to Race for Life in July and although I'm not a runner, I'm actually enjoying it.
I didn't think I'd like the gym when I first joined, but I got addicted. Was down the for 4 gym sessions a week, as well as 6 or 7 gym classes as well.
I definitely made the most of it. And, unlike many people, actually cancelled my membership when I realised I wasn't really using it much anymore.
But hopefully going back will give me the boost I need to get back into losing weight. I don't want to be where I was this time last year, 2 stone heavier, and at the rate I'm going, I'll be there in just a couple of weeks =/
But hopefully the new job will help because I won't be at home in temptation's way so much. I'll eat what I've got for lunch and that's it.
As for clothes - spent £60 on new clothes last week for holiday/general use because everything's too big for me atm and spent another £20 on underwear today. Oops. Debit card needs hiding methinks :o

Clothes are essential and you didn't go too mad. I hate exercise and the gym with a passion, so I'm going to cut down on food and do lots of walking to see if I can lose a few pounds.
Gutted about not being able to do a carboot today to boost cash as the weather is so bad. :(

    Hi HB,

I'm another lbs on and lbs off sort of girl... I too hate exercise and don't belong to a gym, but do have a treadmill in my lounge that when I get into the dieting thing does get used... unfortunately I was intending to lose my annoying 7lbs of wobble before my holiday, but as I am going tomorrow it will have to come with me..!!

My new plan is to start monday week...:D

Sorry the weather is bad where you are.. I did a bootfair last weekend, hate the early get up but we were really busy and came away with £125 profit.. although I do then share it with my dd as it is mainly her tat/treasures I am selling... I do them with my mum who gets paid in coffee and a bacon sarnie... I am off on holiday with my mum as a thank you from her for looking after her last year when she had a second helping of breast cancer. She doesn't know about my debts, well no-one does except OH and he doesn't know the amount.. I'm now in my 7th month of a dmp and all going in the right direction.. just hope over the years I can speed up my DFD, as 2022 seems an awfully long way away..

Anyway enough waffle from me, hope you have a nice sunday despite not being able to 'boot', maybe next weekend will be better weather wise for you.

Thanks, Puzzcat. i have an exercise bike that's draped in clothes in my bedroom. I never go on it. In fact, I'm giving it to my daughter because I'm fed up of looking at it.
I've done three months of self-managed DMP and so pleased that things have settled down and the debt mountain is going down instead of up! Like you, currently i'm looking at 2022 to be debt free, but I hope to speed it up once the smaller amounts start to get paid off and I can up the payment to the larger amounts.
I was a bit confused with the overdraft one, though. The bank have stopped charges and interest, but put the overdraft limit up! I can only think that it is to avoid me going over the agreed limit when the payment plan gets going and they reduce the overdraft limit each month. Currently on my credit report the overdrafts are green and I have made one agreed payment. Maybe it will be adjusted to AR once the payment plan gets going. But I don't really understand why they put the overdraft limit up in the first place.
    Anyway, have a great Sunday.

Just dropping in to say :hello: and to subscribe after reading your diary to date.

I'm in a similar amount of debt to you, managing my own DMP and my OH is mostly unaware. It's not been easy but things are going down instead of up, as they were pre LBM.

I get default letters from my predators most months but ignore them as they are all on no interest, no charges, varying time length low payment plans. Some review more often than others but I deal with them all by letter, I refuse phone calls, and fingers crossed have kept this going for nearly 3 years now. By doing a self managed DMP I've managed to decrease my DFD by a few years and feel that I have much more control of my budget.

Good luck with your journey, I'll be with you for most of it
