Thousands more males are mutilated every year due to religion but children are not taught about the 'risks of circumcision'.
That's also barbaric!
Fair enough, try and get the practice banned in this country, but there is no need to teach about it in schools.0 -

There is every need to teach it in schools!! I strongly suggest you do a bit of research in to FGM and what it actually entails and the horrific consequences women suffer, before commenting. I am not going to get in to the male circumcision debate, but you cannot compare the two.
Oh - and the practice is banned in this country - but due to the fact children are taken out of the country to get it done and the secrecy involved there are very, very few prosecutions.0 -

The "right-on" brigade? Do you have any understanding of what is carried out, and the consequences of it? That it's carried out on girls, whisked out of this country under false pretences and too young to consent to it?

I have
Signed. x0 -

Children don't need to know about such things. I will not sign. Anyone who does sign is misguided by the right on brigade IMO.
It's children it happens to. It's barbaric and illegal in this country, but children living here continue to be at risk. I know who I think is misguided ...QuackQuackOops wrote: »Thousands more males are mutilated every year due to religion but children are not taught about the 'risks of circumcision'.

It's already banned in this country - it's illegal. Unfortunately prosecutions have not been forthcoming. Many children are taken elsewhere for the mutilation to be performed. "No need"? Shakes head in disbelief . . .
There are arguments against the routine circumcision of boys, but there are also arguments in its favour.
The two practices are in no way comparable.. . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..

I signed this when the documentary was shown.
I never actually understood what it was until the woman showed with the plasticine models. Even the late teen gents she showed it too were horrified when they realised what it involved on the whole. Any sick woman who does this or sees that their daughter has this done for the sake of 'purity' deserves to be jailed.*** Thank you for your consideration ***0 -
One has to wonder what the men in these countries know about FGM. Do they know what an un-mutilated woman's genitals really look like? the incidence of FGM is so high in some countries I think men think its the 'norm'. that 'all' women are like this.
I just get this feeling that its women who are mostly perpetuating this. it surely can't be 'pleasurable' to men to have sex with women who are often badly mutilated. and what is the point if the woman cannot produce a live baby? or even become pregnant?0
