Like I said, I want help in the right direction and to the problem I have. Not the one everyone seems to pick up on.
OK - I'm going to take one more try at this.
I attempted to relay my story to you not out of smugness or high handed-ness but to show you that other people had been in similar circumstances, that they had made sacrifices in order to budget properly and clear their debt and that there had been success - and that further down the line things are trundling along nicely for them.
One of the worst feelings in the world is when you're at the bottom of that pit of money and staring up. It feels very lonely and it feels like there is no route out.
I was attempting to show you that there can be rather than just feeling I was someone who hadn't experienced financial difficulty
Now - I come back to my point I keep making.
You have 6 priorities today - that's it:
Rent, Council Tax, Food, Heat, Power, Transport
Stop spending on everything else until you're on firmer ground.

income:
weekly tax credits: £155
fortnightly housing benefit: £300 (next due 17th Feb)
four weekly child benefit: £130 (next due 24th Feb)
expenses:
rent : £925 1st March
fuel: £145 due asap
water: £78 due 17th Mar (I owe for the last 2 months aswell, though someone said earlier that water isn't due this month?)
food: £35 per week will be fine for veg and consumables [plenty in the cupboards/freezer to make meals from scratch]
thanks for your help

If possible I would ask your LL If he would mind waiting 2 days for full rent.
4 weeks until 3rd march
4 x £155 = £620
2 x £300 (17th feb, 3rd march) = £600
1 x £130
TOTAL= £1350
- rent 925
- fuel 145
- water 78
- food 140

M.
Ok well thank you [genuinely] for trying to help and many apologies for the rudeness and offence :embarassed: I was just getting more and more frustrated and took it out on you.
That's kind of why I wanted a service - i.e. someone to meet with face to face as things can so often be mis-read and misunderstood when written down.
Anyway, moving on, thanks for the advice
So I don't need to pay Council Tax as I'm a student :j and I think we've all decide to sell the car and I can walk everywhere. I have a best mate/ex-partner with a car and my Mum lives really close and has a car so if I can't bus it, then they can take me where I need to go.
That leaves rent, food, heat and power.
as above, I won't have enough to pay for those three things with the income I have - hence the problem. What do I prioritise?
A poster previously [can't remember what post now] suggested £500 for rent and then use the rest for power/heat [£145] and water [£78] then [£140] for food - all per month.
Does that sound right to people? x0 -

Thank you SO much. Your post is actually what I've been waiting for all day
absolutely brilliant.
Ok so that leaves all essentials paid. I'll leave the £62 for now [don't have to pay council tax as I'm a student] and keep it in a jar [as previously suggested]
thanks muchly

The housing benefit comes on the 3rd itself so can be used straight away on that day. I was assuming (possibly incorrectly) that tax credits would be paid on the Monday too or at latest Tuesday. Sorry, I completely forgot everyone gets them paid on different days. Even so postponing the rent by less than a week and paying in full has to be preferable to paying half or nothing at all

Ah yeah, I get mine on a Thursday [which i hate lol] I'll crunch some numbers in the morning as my brain is mush now. My LL will most definitely not mind waiting a few days if he gets his rent. I can also pay it in chunks, so he can have the majority of it before then anyway.
I also forgot that I'm £84 overdrawn so that's where the £62 will have to go
I also need to make the extra £12 somewhere - probably sell clothes [suggested in previous posts]
thanks again to you both

I think I'm just about getting to the same situation now.
People think they know you when they don't and I'm getting fed up on no-one listening to me.
You have to hang on in there people are listening a lot more than you think,

Yep, that's the plan. Just need some time to work on my portfolio and I can get some clients. I also love to craft and am working on my stash to sell on etsy/ebay...
Again, just need some time lol x0
