For the last few days I've been unable to open Internet Explorer (presently on Google Chrome). Whenever I try to open IE it's like it 'tries' to open but then crashes. I've tried to do a system restore but get a message to say that it hasn't worked, possibly because of my anti-virus. I can't work out how to remove and then reinstate the anti-virus.
Any suggestions gratefully received, bearing in mind that I'm a bit of a technophobe so would be great if you could explain in simple terms. Thanks in advance.

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
OK on Windows 7 go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and select Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
See it it launches then. If it does then it is probably one of the plugins/extensions which is crashing the browser. In that case go into Uninstall a Program in the Control Panel and remove all the search tool-bars you might have installed and see how you get on from there.0 -

Stick with Chrome, there is absolutely no reason to stay with IE0

If your AV is stopping you doing a System Restore (which I find unlikely) then you should be able to turn it off temporarily and give it another go. There should be an option to turn it off when you open the control panel for the AV.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

I would, but there are a few things in it I don't like. Probably could be adjusted easily enough if I knew what I was doing though.3 stone down, 3 more to go0
