End of XP support and online banking

Do banks recognise linux as a valid OS and not put up reasons not pay out if online fraud on the banking site is classed as your fault for using linux?
I don't think any bank would refuse to payout due to your choice of OS.
If however you decided to use an OS with a known security flaw that had no known fix, then they may regard that as a failure on your part to comply with the T&Cs, unless that OS had a valid support agreement.0 -
Actually once XP has had support officially ended, expect to see some banks try it on with refusing compensation if there's a fraud issue and your OS was XP. Looks like everyone will have to use their phone or a cheap tablet in future.0

Do you see them coming to my house to check what Operating System(s) I use? And/or follow me round to check out the OS if I log in from elsewhere, e.g. a hotel?0 -
While not entirely reliable as it can be manipulated - the vast majority of people's OSes will be easily identified via the user-agent http header.0

Actually, due to the demise of security updates to XP, the fact that my computer is not compatible with Windows 7, and also the fact that I do not wish to spend hundreds of pouds on buying an new computer, I am now using my tablet to access online banking with protection by Trusteer. However, one thing I found is that you cannot print from a mobile app. At least I can't. I have the HP eprint programme which prints from all my other applications, but not the banking ones.0 -

I had the same problem and solved it by updating my ABIT motherboard drivers.0 -

They can easily check this with the useragent string. You can spoof it of course but it's a tech savvy workaround, don't expect most people to be able to spoof their OS and/or browser.
And yes, this is an older comment.0 -
Anyway, thanks to this thread, I've spent a load of time updating systems to get them to the final state by "the end"...0

Do you mean the motherboard's BIOS? Motherboard drivers are installed for Windows, so wouldn't help you actually install Windows itself.
Hi
Dunno anything about the mobo bois. I updated the mobo drivers (ABIT IP-35 Pro) and I was able to install Windows 7. (Had compatibility problems before).Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0
