Question About Sick Notes & ESA

Have been off work for over 2 years due to chronic illness. No SSP or payment from employer.
Placed on ESA in support group for 1 year, a few months ago Doctor will not provide sick note for employer because I'm on ESA. Employer demanding doctors note to prove I'm unfit for work.
Any advice please?
Thanks

You probably need to ask your dr for a private sick note, which many charge for. It sounds as if your gp might well be one of the ones who will charge.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I can't understand why they need a sick note I have proof that I'm disabled and ill. I would expect my doctor would charge for this service. My income is already very low. Is this the law?

    Thanks

I don't really understand, why, after 2 years sick leave, your employer hasn't just terminated your employment.

Doctors charge for a private fit note, as they won't provide an NHS one, for this long, usually.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

Hi, I asked for ill health retirement and have seen OH about 6 times. I think if you are disabled there may be problem with sacking. I will not receive a big handout, just in case people perceive that.
I really did want to work.

    Thanks

Get copy of sicknote from DWP.

This could be done with a Subject Access Request - which is free - but will take up to 40 days.

Hi thanks for your suggestion. I did not know you could this.
Do you to have write them or phone them up? The only problem
I can see is that my employer may want it sooner rather than later. How do they issue a sick because they aren't doctors?

    Many thanks

When I got to 60 and a few months and knew that there was no point in my employer keeping my job open as I knew I would never return, I resigned. Quite simple really if you know that you won't go back, why not be honest with your employer and part on good terms?
Why on earth are you prolonging the situation? Is your employer keeping your job open after 2 years?? If so do you honestly think that is fair?

    https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-work-pensions/about/personal-information-charter

They do not - they'd show the copy that's on file.

However, on rereading, it seems you may not have one.
I believe your doctor is misunderstanding a letter they received - which says something like 'you do not need to keep providing sick notes for this patients ESA claim'.

This however is not your issue, as you need one to supply to your employer, not the DWP.

In principle, my understanding is there may be a small charge for this.
