Just my experience, but I bought an Asus (can't remember the model) and it was the biggest heap of junk I've ever encountered so that went straight back !. Replaced with a cheap HP from Argos that I've been more than happy with.

You'll just need to copy your important data elsewhere, so that you can wipe the hard drive clean.

Sounds like you want a laptop anyway. What screen size? any other specifics like that and bargains will be posted I'm sure :-)

I think you are right but would be good to keep the desktop up and running as well! Given have a child about to go to secondary think demand for computer will increase!

If I keep desktop not too fussed about screen size as could always hook laptop up to desktop monitor if feel need bigger screen!
