Would you get a dog from a dog rescue centre?

Just reiterating this.
If you are just breeding two dogs you have what diversity in lines are you creating? What are you doing to choose the best match for the dog in body type instead of 'just using your own dog'?
There are times when a good breeder will own both dogs, having bout a dog to use for some of their matings, but its NOT a sign of a poor breeder not to have the stud dog available for buyers to meet. Really it isn't.0 -

I should think most good dog owners are willing to travel to see both parents, it isn't exactly a lot of effort for such an important decision.0 -

My dog's father is in another country
My little dog was born in south of England where I saw him ( after a two hour drive) with his mother and saw other dogs of the breeder's) his dad was eight hours drive away. With two other dogs, other animals, and other restrictions I was happy not seeing him.
However, I will admit I have been following the breed for about seven or eight years before buying one, have done research into lines and while I had only seen photos of the stud dog, I knew the stamp of dog he was before I'd seen them and met others in the line. In fact, I was excited to get a puppy of the particular cross as my favourite dog in the showering ( a dog who works as well as shows) is a very similar cross from the same breeders. Indeed, I have ended up with a dog who is learning to work but is physically correct, delightful temperament and had the rigorous health checks of people breeding under scrutiny and for the love of a breed and showing. All without seeing the sire.
Similarly very few people who bought dogs from my mother went to see the sire, some did though.0 -

Awwww adouglasmhor, how adorable are those two!!
We have an adorable and scruffy little sprollie from a rescue, we think she may have been neglected as she tend to be a bit of a scrounger and is protective of food. Sure, she barks at EVERYTHING and counter-surfs a lot, but having her curled up on the sofa with us or rolling over for a tummy rub is worth all that. She is lovely

The father of my dog is in another country so not really practical to go and see himThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
My advice to you OP would be to keep looking in a rehoming centre! We've had our rescue lurcher for 6 months now and I don't regret having him at all.
He has had his issues, like destructiveness, but we've worked around his issues and worked out some of his background from some of his anxieties. He has been a million percent worth it. He may not be the most intelligent dog, but he will now sit, give his paw for a treat, I've taught him to jog with me on a long lead (after quite a few times of him tripping me), he will retrieve his frisbee and walk off his lead next to me. Considering what we think he's been through, he's got such a lot of love to give! He amazes me every day with his capacity to love.
The cat however, not so impressed!!!!0 -

They were in a big huff there as we were on holiday and there was not a couch each (the checked thing is an old curtain we take with us to use as a throw). The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
