BT Sport change

Oh dear signed on for BT Sport last June and they have automatically extended my broadband contract until next June... 12 months.
Oh well I thought never mind, but what hasn't been extended is my line rental saver, now way out of sink with my broadband and the broadband deal I was on has not been extended either and will not be until next June?
So I can restart my line saver now for 12 months, but my contact ends in June, and I have to wait before I can get another broadband deal this doesn't seem very fair BT
Has anybody else had this raw deal? I'm stuck in the middle here.

You don't have to wait until the very end of your BT Broadband contract to renew.
BT allow renewals in the last 3 months of your term, so if your contract ends in June BT will allow you to renew on a better deal in March which is only a month away.
So not all bad but i do agree the BT sport renewing contracts but not discounts is a bit sharp practice.0 -
Not really a sharp practice, as BT did make it very clear in the T&C for the free BT Sport that you would have to take out a new 12 month Broadband contract.0

Hi,
I am wondering if someone can help me with a query. My stepdad has had a total nightmare with BT this evening and im just wondering if there is anything we can do about a ridiculous cancellation fee of over £130.
He added BT sport to our current broadband and phone package in August last year and at the time he cannot recall them informing us of an extension/renewal of our current contract. We would not have accepted this anyway due to the very poor service we already get off them. I have recently looked at our current speed on the BT speed checker and we are currently only receiving 0.67mb of internet to our home hub. As it is that bad we have now looked at getting virgin media fibre optic as this is the only supplier where we can recieve a better speed. We have contacted BT to cancel our contract and they have now informed us that the contract was renewed when the BT sports package was added. We have not agreed to this by verbal contract, and they are claiming they sent a confirmation email to my stepdads email address which he now doesnt even have access to. Are we in a contract if we have not signed for or verbally agreed to this extension/renewal?
Many Thanks in advance0 -
Yes you are, your BT Sport sub started you on a new minimum term, and no signature is necessary.
Why would BT offer this service 'free' except to retain their subscriber base?
Your speed issue is a separate matter. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Yep, EVERY advert for BT Sport made a new minimum term very clear.
OP There is no obligation for the discounts to align, thinking about it, its quite clever of BT, means you're less likely to leave...0 -
How are you getting BT Sport with such a low download speed? Have you added it to a Sky/TV package??0

I have had the same issue with BT, callled to get the free sports package and at no point was I advised that my broadband would be renewed for the next 12 months on a standard rate contract. Would have been happy to renew on the existing contract but to be paying £27 a month for broadband is very expensive especially with all the deals that are about. I had called BT when my package was due to be renewed and at that point I was told that it was done when I took out the sports channel, when I asked the advisor if this was still at the discounted rate I was told that it was, when I recieved this months bill it states different. The customer service that you get when you call BT is terrible, so I have had to write them a letter. Not sure if I will get any joy with this? Has anyone been able to resolve the issue? Had a look on their website and this has happened to a lot of people, seems like their advisors have not being giving the correct information for the sports package! There is no way I would have agreed to take it out on the higher rate, I have ended up paying double the amount for a so called "FREE" service.0
