No Court Cases this week???

What has happened all of the court cases this week, I have not seen feedback from a single one on MSE or Pepipoo since last Friday.

I realise that all the cases in the South East are stayed, but what about the rest of the country? I do hope that it's not a case of PE winning so it's not reported on the forums.

There have been a few hearings listed for this week, but only one of them involving a defendant helped by the forums, and hers was a Directions Hearing to set a date.

We don't know what happened in any of the others, the majority of people never visit the forums.

And it's East Anglia (Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire & Essex) not the South East where the cases are stayed.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

Could someone explain what reason court cases would be "stayed"? And what this might entail for the future concerning PPC's bringing cases to court?

Thanks BP, I need to read up on my South of England geography.

  • I think Edward123 means why would a Judge take this step and what is the worst case scenario for PE in this situation. I've very little legal knowledge but even my take on this is that it can't be good news for PE. Could the Judge order that Miss Ledson must attend as head of legal.
  • I prefer to leave it to the more legally experienced posters who are doing fantastic work behind the scenes rather that speculating here about what we all might wish for.

I am happy to wait until after 14th March to see what will really happen.

I saw a case on Pepipoo where an Excel claim is also stayed, pending the outcome of this case.

There are all sorts of possibilities, the essence of this seems to be turning up so badly prepared it is a waste of the court's time. Given that the court is intended to be the last resort (hence all those letters that are supposed to be sent before you arrive) and a legal professional is under an obligation to use the court's time efficiently, demonstrating that you don't understand what you are talking about is professional negligence. Solicitors and barristers have a duty to the court not just their clients. It could be very bad for the lawyers and for the parking companies.
