Chimney Cowls (Aerocowl)

Has anybody had any success with using an Aerocowl?
I've got very long, lined flues, and when windy, even gusts, I can hear wind noise through the stove. I struggle so much with control on one appliance (Morso 1412).
I thought that I would try and deal with the solution by fitting good British made Rotovent Cowls. Wind noise gone, but oh no! can't get appliances above 300F, and that's with good quality, 3 yo dried hardwood (14% dry). So in fact it would appear I have now improved my draw, which wasn't the issue at all, but now heat into room is rubbish - well disappointed.:D
Been searching online, again, and have seen http://aerocowl.com. The site is a bit basic, but I need a solution.
If anybody has used one, or has simple alternatives to what I now believe is overdraw, I'd be grateful.
This problem has been driving me completely mad, and I want to resolve this problem.
Appliances are correctly installed (HETAS), airtight, ropes etc all good, and they have been checked.
A point worth mentioning, the Morso cement which joins flue collar to stove has cracked twice, even though I have never overfired, not according to thermometer, which resides on flue pipe.
Thanks in advance, and fingers crossed.

If your problem is overdrawing - and is intermittent - then a flue draught stabiliser may be the best bet. Most chimney cowls are a bit of a compromise - many will prevent downdraughts in windy weather for instance - but will also reduce the draw in calm conditions.0

Have you got anymore info on these please? Id be interestedEven a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.0 -
Not sure if greenfires means a flue damper or not.
If so they are not that expensive and are pretty much just a butterfly valve.0 -
No - I'm not keen on dampers in the chimney at all in most circumstances to be honest. A stabiliser is a bit more technical and looks after evrything itself once set up.

Thanks Greenfires, I have spoken to our Chimney Sweep ( a very experienced man), he said he would condemn our appliance(s) if we had one installed. So that is why I am looking at a cowl alternative. Also trying to get a professional (our installers won't do it) is difficult, and naturally I am not experienced enough to do it myself - yes I am going around in circles.

I have no idea why your sweep should think it a reason for condemning the appliance - not that sweeps have the power to actually stop anyone doing anything anyway. Flue draught stabilisers are commercially available from many flue system manufacturers, recommended by a wide variety of stove and appliance manufacturers, and covered by part J of the building regs. Maybe he's just not familiar with them and has therefore decided off his own back that they're unsafe.0
