Amazon used to have a practice where as a Marketplace seller you had to sell at a higher or equal price to Amazon. There was a recent ruling which forced Amazon to allow Marketplace sellers to sell at whatever price they wished even if this was below Amazons own price.

    How long ago was that?

I started selling on amazon as a marketplace seller in 2005 and never experienced such a ruling

With amazon prices going up and down more frequently than the local wh0re's knickers, how can anyone expect to always ensure their prices were no less than amazon's ???

Same here, I have sold on there for many years and never had to match the Amazon price.

Amazon limits super saver delivery to £10 now. So had some trouble getting enough for super saver delivery. Noticed fulfilled by amazon products are twice as expernsive sometimes as items fulfilled by third parties.

Spend about 2 hours search for products that were eligible and cheap enough. But didn't work out.

I've found many items that are exactly the same by third party sellers are free delivery. Not sure how you managed to spend 2 hours on 4 items, surely to just go to eBay if the third party sellers didn't have free delivery would have been quicker?

I've been selling on Amazon marketplace for years and have never had them dictate what I charge. I have always charged less than Amazon. Where did you hear this?

I still find Amazon very competitive on many things. I do find Book Depository is better for books, but I think they are owned by Amazon anyway.

Amazon has chosen not to make a profit for the past 20 years, in order to gain as much market share as they possibly can. Now they are big, they have finally chosen to make profit to impress the shareholders. Inevitably, that means higher prices for customers.

I think maybe they are referring to this, however it seems it was to do with Amazon not allowing marketplace sellers to sell the same item cheaper elsewhere on the internet, rather than not allowing marketplace sellers to undercut Amazon themselves.

The only reason why the profit figures for Amazon have been so low was because the majority of its sales go through the books in Luxembourg instead of the UK so that they benefit from the very low rate of corporation tax there.

There is no way that any company would willingly run at a loss for 20 years (unless it was a taxpayer funded business).

Anyone who berated Amazon for "avoiding tax" cannot complain about these changes.
