No, you can't.
If you finish the contract early you will find there are penalties and you will also have to send back the phone and everything that came with it. ie headset, etc.

erm they say they want to end the contract when the minimum term is up(plus you don't have to send phone back that isn't part of the line rental contract).
The easiest way to do it with minimum hassle is to ring up when you are ready to 'cancel' and say you want the contract to end and be converted to a PAYG. They will likely send you a new SIM to use as PAYG with your number on it. Then should you decide to want to be PAYG on another network then you can ask fo your PAC. That way avoids any problems with them not ending the contract and the fact that you 'stay' with them hopefully keeps them sweet whilst they sort it out0 -

Of course you can!
I've done it several times, my number has stayed with me between several networks. I started on a vodaphone contract, changed to a Virgin PAYG, changed to a Tmobile contract, then back to VIRGIN PAYG, then changed to an O2 contract (worst decision ever they were dreadful!) now back on a Virgin contract (phew!)
Am staying put now though, and in all that time I have kept the same number. You do as the above have said and ask for a PAC code when you cancel and give it to the new supplier.
BUT - If you want to stay on Virgin, just swap to PAYG you don't even need to do that, just ring up and they will do it all automatically.
Also the OP has alraedy said the contract is coming to an end so penalties for ending early don't even come into it..0
