30 day contracts for 1 month only

Is this possible?

The reason i ask is that I am looking at 30 day Orange MObile Broadband contracts which comes with a Mifi dongle for £10. This seems to be the cheapest way to get one of these dongles.

I don't want an on going monthly contract as i wont be using it enough.

So say I purchased this contract on Monday and the sim and Mifi arrives on Wednesday, could i then phone up immediately and cancel the contract. By cancelling on day 1 of my contract I would be giving enough notice to end it within 1 month surely?

When I went into an EE shop last week the guy in the shop couldnt tell me what would happen. He mentioned that I might end up having to pay 2 months rental depending on when the billing dates and direct debits dates are but couldn't explain why this was the case.

Seems a bit uneccassarily complex.

No, you have to give a full 30 days notice. Since the monthly rental is always paid in advance, your final bill will adjust the amount owing accordingly pro rata, and credit you if necessary.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • so say i make the online purchase on Monday 10th
The rental is £17.50 a month and the mifi is a one off £10

Would i pay £27.50 that day?
When the items arrive, (i assume this is Day 1 of my contract) i then phone up to cancel the contract , does this mean i'm contracted to them for 31 days?

or would i just pay £10 at the date of purchase and the £17.50 is paid on the direct debit date?

It will be 30 days notice AFTER the first month of service - so from Day 1 of service, the earliest you can leave is a Day 60.

Nonsense. Quote any contract saying that the notice can't be given during the minimum term (one month in this case).

It's difficult to pay no more than for 30 days, but 32-35 is easily doable, not 60.
