Letter From Halifax re PPI?

Has anyone else had a letter from the Halifax offering to investigate their PPI?

My husband and I received one yesterday, just wondering if anyone has had any success claiming this way, when the bank offers to look into the PPI before you ask them to.

We had a £5000 loan repaid over five years, which my husband took out over the internet, just wondering what our chances are of getting anything back. Also, will claiming affect any other accounts we have with them (currently three bank accounts, and our mortgage).

    Lots of people. But it doesn't make it any more or less likely you have a valid complaint.

    It is a CCL. Loads are going out at the moment.

    Probably. However, the letter is no indication of liability or chance of success. It just allows them to start the timebar clock ticking.

  • The 8 week timeframe doesn't start until you return the questionnaire or phone in to 'activate' the investigation.

    If you don't reply to the letter, there's a chance they will simply resend it again in a few months.

    Returning the questionnaire won't have any affect on your other accounts.
  • Just to update, we were successful and got nearly £900 back. Thanks to all for your advice.
