Hi Folks

I am thinking of getting a pay as you go sim card.

Can you please suggest what things to consider when choosing which sim card to buy?

Thanks

See the sticky at the top of the board?

The things to consider are pretty obvious:
    • the cost of your usage/needs
    • signal

Cost is important but check first that you can get coverage on the network that you choose, it's no good being cheap if there's no signal!

Network Three gives 3p Min, 2p text, 1p Mb data but it's 3G only and may not suit your phone.
Some like Ovivo (on Vodafone) but there are a lot of complaints on this forum about them.
You pay them £20 and get free calls/texts/data up to a limit each month.
    Sainsbury's (Vodafone) 8p Min, 4p text, 50p for 25Mb data (lasts a day).
Asda (EE) 8p Min, 4p text, 5p Mb but there have been tech problems.
Tesco Mobile Lite (O2) 8p Min, 4p text, 10p Mb.
    GiffGaff (O2) 10p Min, 6p text, 20p for 20Mb data (lasts a day).

I use Tesco Mobile Lite and am happy with it for signal strength and coverage but you may have to contact customer services to obtain a Lite sim card as they are not generally available in the stores or online.
They mostly push the triple credit tariff at 25p a minute & 10p a text, which is OK if you use your phone a lot.
Eg You put £10 in and they give you an extra £20 for the following month, the £10 does not expire though and can be used until it runs out.

    Depending on usage :)
