What's happened to the sticky? Earlier it had several posts that detailed the rules for each area and they were linked. Now there's just the first post and when I click on the rules for my area it says 'no found'. Hope there's no issue with you collating the info
And now it's locked. Seems like someone didn't want this information all in one place. What a shame.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
It was me , I looked at how many Leas they are and there are about 150 so what I have done instead is in the first post link the relevant page to the list of leas. I closed yge thread but I will reopen it

The whole point of the strike is to be a disconvience so as to raise public awareness of the issues facing many public sector workers, if the strike was on a weekend how many would even notice?
If the govt discussed with the teachers the strike may be off. One (sneaky) option is to see if any religious holiday is on your away dates and reaffirm your membership of this faith. An r code does not count against attendance
She won't need to -Going away 1st to the 8th May so presumably the Monday she is away is a bank holiday so child will be absent for 4 days or 8 sessions.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Thanks duchy, that makes sense, although to be honest if they fine me its a risk am willing to take.
Mountainofdebt - yes I am ok with taking him out for a week, he never misses school and I pay a private Maths tutor twice a week and an English tutor once a week, including during all the holidays the school has so somehow I dont think missing a few days is going to be detrimental to his education this time round0 -
My daughter is currently in Oz for nearly five weeks spoke with school and they are fine with it. I live in scotland0

There does seem to be some inconsistencies which considering it's supposed to be government legislation seems weird- the head at my school was very adamant that there would be no term time holidays under the new rules but other schools seem less rigid.
We were potentially looking at taking our 2 out for a few days in June to take them to Glastonbury but we didn't get ticketrs and also my daughter now has a ballet show that weekend so not going to be happening now0 -

The level it settles at will probably be set by OFSTED. If they cause problems for the Heads who have been more lenient, things will tighten up. If they don't, the stricter Heads will relax their stance.0 -

It'll also depend on how prevalent the issue is in a school. One school I used to work in had constant issues with parents taking children out at the start of a term (no-one seen any issue because 'everyone' does it), which is the worst time to do it. The Head felt pretty powerless over it so I can imagine they are cracking down hard atm. Whereas a school that doesn't have a big issue with it may not really change.
I think the trips (the once in a life-time, family wedding etc) that should have been okayed under the old rules will be once it settles down a bit.0 -
As a result of a huge response to an on-line petition, this issue is being discussed in parliament on, I believe, Monday 24th February. It might be worth those that feel strongly writing to their MPs.0

We've had a day out approved for a family event (in the last couple of weeks) so its still possible. Its an interesting position for the school - an odd day can't be fined for, so if the school refuses to authorise it, it goes down as unauthorised on the school's stats. So in our case as the kids have high attendance and more than on target attainment refusing to authorise it would hurt the school more than it would hurt us. Similarly the school is strong enough that if Ofsted didn't like it, marking it down on inspection for being lenient on absence is unlikely to see it downgraded overall.
I wasn't expecting it to be approved but we were going anyway, and I wasn't going to lie about it and say they were ill or something.Adventure before Dementia!0
